The 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐆𝐂 𝟐𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐄𝐗𝐏𝐄𝐂 𝟐𝟑𝟔 allows for the analysis of volatile compounds in samples by vaporizing them into the gas phase and separating them based on their chemical properties using gas chromatography. Principles of their combination mainly include: 1️⃣ 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴: The EXPEC 236 works by introducing a sample into the headspace (the space above the sample) of a sealed vial. This allows volatile compounds from the sample to equilibrate with the gas phase. 2️⃣ 𝗩𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: In the headspace, volatile compounds evaporate from the sample into the gas phase. This process is facilitated by heating the sample vial to a controlled temperature. 3️⃣ 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: The headspace sampler then introduces a controlled volume of the gas phase (containing the volatile compounds) into the gas chromatograph. 4️⃣ 𝗚𝗮𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Inside the GC 2000, the gas phase (containing the sample) is injected into a heated column packed with a stationary phase. As the gas phase travels through the column, different compounds in the sample interact differently with the stationary phase, causing them to separate based on their chemical properties. 5️⃣ 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Once separated, the individual compounds elute from the column and enter a detector. The detector identifies and quantifies the compounds based on their characteristic properties, such as retention time and chemical structure. 6️⃣ 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗶𝘀: The data obtained from the detector is then analyzed to determine the presence and concentration of specific compounds in the sample.
