This is an unusual post from me 💡 I wanted to introduce you to something I've been tinkering with lately: Notion templates. Ever heard of Notion? It's like the cool, aesthetically pleasing cousin of Excel, with a ton of amazing tools and an intuitive GUI for personal and team organization. While it may not boast all the bells and whistles of Excel, it's swiftly becoming my preferred tool for managing my personal goals, tracking my projects, and tracking my workouts. What's cool is, that diving into Notion felt oddly familiar. The logic behind building templates, linking databases, and tweaking formulas? Reminded me a lot of my coding projects. 🤓 So, it's been a smooth ride picking it up. Very recently, I've designed and implemented this Notion template specifically for fellow runners out there, and I'd love to share it with you, no strings attached! 3 simple steps to mastering Notion quickly 1️⃣ Watch Notion tutorial videos ✅ There are so many videos on YouTube that’ll teach you about Notion. ✅ Here are some fantastic Notion channels I've found: ✔️ Easlo ✔️ Creative Cove ✔️ Chris’s Notion ✔️ Productive Dude ✔️ Productive Setups ✔️ Thomas Frank Explains ✔️ Notion has a channel too! There are so many more channels you can find. 2️⃣ Study other people’s templates ✅ Get any free templates you can find. ✅ Analyze how it works and understand how it was made. ✅ Try to recreate the template and add some improvements. 3️⃣ Build systems of your own ✅ Find problems that you or your family/friends have. ✅ Build a system in Notion to help solve your problems. ✔️ Example: To start, try making a system for your personal life. ✅ Keep experimenting and finding ways to improve your system. ✔️ Making it easier to use or adding useful features. ✅ Once you have a great solution, share it with others and get feedback. In summary, you can become skilled at Notion by: 1️⃣ Watching Notion tutorial videos. 2️⃣ Studying other people’s templates. 3️⃣ Building systems of your own. The forward slash (/) key is your gateway to Notion's functions... Try it out and take a look at the different blocks you can add to a Notion page... Basic blocks include simple page elements like text, titles, bullet point lists, check boxes, simple tables etc More advanced blocks are databases, synced blocks, table of contents and more... When you want to use Notion with other products and services you can then start embedding items like pictures, dropbox links, whimsical diagrams, Youtube videos, Asana tasks and more... There's a lot of power behind the / key so I recommend testing it out, playing with the different functions and getting used to the options available to you. It's a bit like LEGO when you tear open one of the bags of pieces - at the start you're just finding out what you've got, before you start putting them together.
