Very Useful as well as unique techniques that immediately sets you apart.
✨Practical CV Tips for Hotel Jobs in the Middle East Part 1 - Commis Chef Here are 6 tailored CV tips for a Commis Chef applying for hotel jobs in the Middle East: 1. Highlight Your Experience with Regional Ingredients Emphasize any experience you have with local ingredients such as spices (saffron, cumin, sumac) and dishes (mezze, grilled meats, or traditional Middle Eastern desserts). Hummus, muttabel, tabbouleh etc. Knowing local flavors is a key asset. Or, if you are applying for a specific restaurant, tailor your CV to reflect the cuisine! 2. Mention Experience in High-Volume Kitchens Hotels in the Middle East often serve large numbers of guests, especially during busy seasons like Ramadan and Eid. If you’ve worked in high-volume kitchens, mention it. Include details about the number of covers you’ve handled or experience with large buffets and banquets. 3. Showcase Your Versatility Include a section in your CV that highlights your ability to work across different sections of the kitchen—hot, cold, pastry, or prepping. (Some) Middle Eastern hotels value chefs who can adapt and step into various roles as needed. 4. List Relevant Certifications Mention food safety certifications (HACCP), and if you have any experience or training in food preparation, that’s a big plus in this region. Any additional culinary courses you've taken will also strengthen your CV. Be specific: mention the duration of the course! 5. Include Language Skills While English is essential, if you know any Arabic, even at a conversational level, include it. (Some) hotels in the Middle East may be looking for chefs who can communicate with guests! For example, during breakfast... 6. Start a Visual Portfolio And this one is my favorite! Even as a commis chef, building a simple portfolio with photos of dishes you've helped prepare or plated can make a strong impression. Chef Imane Laichi, who was recently promoted to DCDP, has already started creating beautiful photos of her dishes and is on her way to having an impressive portfolio! 🌟 Include a link to a digital portfolio or even a well-organized Instagram page showcasing your cooking skills. This is becoming increasingly popular and gives recruiters and senior Chefs a chance to see what you can already do in the kitchen, even at the early stages of your career. Another awesome example is our chef Matthew Mitchell, who is working on a stunning Instagram page where he shares his culinary creations. https://lnkd.in/dahuMYth This trend is growing, and it’s a great way to show your skills. What did you think about the Part 1 of this series? Any suggestions for the next position? Let me know in the comments! #Hospitality #HotelJobs #MiddleEast #CVTips #JobSeekers #CareerAdvice
