Misinformation is less of an issue today than ever before. Change my mind. People have rose tinted memories. They tend to remember the past in the way they saw and felt it then. Not through the lens they possess today. When I grew up, you had four TV channels and newspapers. That's it kids. Look at how these news sources are viewed today. They are all dying. Trust in legacy media is lower than ever. So what, do you think they just started telling porkies (lies for the non-brits) recently? They've been spreading manure across the airwaves for generations. The internet has decentralised this economy, and thankfully so. It might appear like there is more misinformation because there's more information. The reality is that you now have more truth at your fingertips than ever before. Sure, you have to develop a mechanism to sift through the tsunami. But before the internet, you were up sh*t's creek without a paddle. It just didn't feel like it at the time, you didn't know any better, and you still think of it that way. If you hear a politician bemoaning misinformation, it's probably because they are struggling to spead their BS. This is a good thing! Did I change your mind? #misinformation

Bravo. #Publishing orgs need clearly defined policies and definitions around this stuff -- not just because its #ethical, but because #AIproducedcontent functions as synthetic data (#SMOTE), which can ruin the effectiveness of any #LLM model when used as training material. Inclusion of purely #AI -written content in reputable publications dilutes the effectiveness of all these tools for everyone as providers like OpenAI and Google update their training data with internet content.
This is excellent news from Medium.
