March sales shock for new vehicles 02 April 2024: New vehicle sales seemingly plummeted in March compared to the same month last year. But two major factors conspired against the numbers, according to WesBank. Figures released by naamsa | the Automotive Business Council saw the March new vehicle market decline 11,7% to 44,273 sales, at first glance scaring the market. 【The Best Vehicle Sales Result in 2024】 The Global Light Vehicle selling rate for November stood at 95 mn units/year, a small improvement on the previous month, and the best result so far in 2024. Market volumes continued to grow in November as YoY sales were up 6% compared to November 2023. YTD sales stood at 80 mn units. In November, sales saw sustained growth in key markets like the US and China. Chinese consumers are capitalizing on scrappage subsidies and a very competitive pricing environment. In the US, an extra selling day compared to the previous year contributed to increased sales YoY. Aggregate domestic new vehicle sales in August 2024, at 43,588 units, reflected a decrease of 2,266 units, or a loss of 4,9%, from the 45,854 vehicles sold in August 2023.
