I recently turned down a job offer for a job I really wanted. Commissioning operation of a new facility in Nunavut. I turned it down because it’s only temporary. I recently started a new job. In all honesty everything seems good. Benefits from day one, people onsite all seem like friendly people, pay is a little better, all the things I complained about not having at my last job, like the ability to test turbidity and ammonia instead of guessing by looking through a water bottle. Now another opportunity has fell in my lap. It’s another temporary position, but it would be a new challenge. Treating water for the clean up of a major industrial spill. I don’t have all the details yet, or an offer, but it has me thinking. Do I stay with stability and just hunker down at a job where I may never be more than just an operator? Or, do I take a risk and start pursuing roles that will challenge and teach me new things, new processes and present new challenges.
