We can’t believe how close it is now. Our Xmas Party & Awards Night is 2 days away!! Who will be this year’s Agents' Agent of the Year? Time will tell. This is one of our favourite awards. Our agents vote for which agent they feel should be nominated and win, which means a lot to the agents who get recognised for their efforts over the last 12 months. This year’s sponsor is goodlord, offering a more efficient way to manage the lettings. Their digital platform handles the entire lettings process for our agents, from offering letters to rent collection, all while helping them boost their revenue. Recently, I came across a post addressing the commercialization of awards and recognitions and how such practices can conflict with ethical standards. Allow me to illustrate with a recent example in a industry. Consider a leasing developer who, after making a budget of ₹10 lakh from each of his clients, ends up pocketing a crore rupees. He then spends ₹2 lakh to organize an event, where he influences the awarding of 10 different awards in various categories to his clients. This clever strategy allows him to use the event for self-promotion, inviting clients and employees, and presenting himself as a leading and influential figure in the industry. Despite the substantial spending on event organization, this individual capitalizes on the opportunity to bolster his own image. Meanwhile, his clients complain that their leasing development budget is 2.4 times higher than initially proposed, with marketing costs increasing 3.2 times without delivering the expected results. As I advised the client, it’s crucial to consider where the issues truly lie. Often, the blame is misplaced, and it’s essential to examine all factors involved, including internal practices and external influences. I Check my finger how many pointing at me rather than at others. Freebies don't have the Value where I never work for free. A spending must be contributions where it might be noble cause and it has a worth for it. where we can see justice and neutrality in awards. Jai Hind.

I have some interesting info for aspiring Yellowknife entrepreneurs or real estate investors looking to either lease space to or operate a liquor store (or beer & wine store) in Yellowknife. The Department of Finance issued a Request for Expressions of Interest last week, which you can find on the GNWT contracts page under Event ID 0000007913. The current contracts expire in August of 2025, and instead of going straight out to RFP (Request Proposals) for combined owner/operators, like the current model, the department is splitting the contracts up. They will be issuing four separate RFPs - two to find landlords who are willing to lease space (or build and lease space), and two to store operators. I don't really know what inspired the new approach, but it makes sense that it would be harder to find someone who both owns a building and is willing to operate a liquor store, than to find someone who is in a position to do one but not the other. If you're interested in finding out more, be sure to let them know. I think you have to express interest in order to be involved in the RFP, but I could be wrong about that. The deadline for expressions of interest is Nov 29. And then the RFP will be issued in early December.

Instead of looking back in anger, read this helpful summary of how the Oasis ticket difficulties have drawn attention to dynamic pricing issues.
🎸 Oasis’ reunion tour announcement had fans buzzing, but dynamic pricing left many disappointed. Ticket prices soared as demand surged, prompting complaints to the ASA. The UK government is now reviewing the transparency of dynamic pricing practices. Businesses are advised to reassess their strategies to ensure compliance with competition and consumer laws. What are your thoughts on dynamic pricing? Did it affect your chance to see Oasis live? #Oasisi2025 #ConsumerLaws #ConsumerRightsUK #CompetitionLaw

We are pretty much through the award season for apartment associations this year. And if you entered a great person, property, floor plan, marketing campaign, website or whatever and didn’t win because you think you were screwed, well…you may be right. As a frequent judge for these types of awards, I’ve seen great entries absolutely get cheated out of winning. It’s a fact; but you know who screws up their chances? You. That’s right. You. Why? Because YOU DIDN’T FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS. Maybe the instructions asked for a video and you didn’t include one. Maybe you were supposed to attach some documentation. Time and time again, I see great entries that lose points simply because they failed to follow the directions. It’s not the job of the association or the judge to ‘fix’ your entry. You need to make sure you’ve checked all the boxes before you submit it for consideration. Have a sister property review your entry, or a coworker who’s good at detail. Look at it with the eyes of a third-party. We who judge these awards loathe having to give you less points because you didn’t include everything the entry asked for. You’ve got a year to start figuring out what you’ll enter. Pick a great category, get your thoughts, ideas and materials together. And lastly, FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS. We sincerely want you to have every possible chance to win.
