We need to "improve our understanding of climate risks for displaced people" This sentence forms the very first step of what we framed in NRC as "climate in our response". We want to better design programs and operate safer by understanding the climate risks in the contexts we work in, that are conflict affected, and the potential impacts that our interventions can have on the adaptation limits of the people we work with. Sharing a call for consultancy for helping us in systematizing this crucial understanding: https://lnkd.in/eXNWft7g The tool is expected to be people centered, integrated into NRC programming processes, and complementary to existing screening and risk-informed programming practices in NRC such as NEAT+. Deadline is 6 May, please share among your networks!

💸 As I look forward towards a career in community climate resilience, I'm thrilled to hear about new measures that address just that. Vermont's Make Big Oil Pay campaign aims to declare the state a climate superfund cite, requiring oil giants to direct some of their record-breaking profits into recovery efforts throughout the state. This money would: 🔨 Rebuild crucial infrastructure damaged by the historic flooding seen in the last few years ☀️ Make climate solutions affordable for all Vermonters 🌲 Support farm and forest health and economies 🫶 I've called Vermont home for a third of my life, and can say first hand that these communities are struggling. Ski mountains closing early due to warm temps and lack of snow is a bummer for your ski vacation, but means that thousands of local families are out of work for months before their summer jobs can start. Community resilience efforts need funding to get off the ground, and what better place to get this funding than the companies that started this mess to begin with? 🗣️ I would love to learn more about community resilience efforts in your communities. If you hear of anything cool, know someone I should speak with, or (better yet) know of an organization that wants to hire a passionate, soon-to-graduate grad student, who's looking for a career in community climate resiliency, please don't be afraid to reach out! https://lnkd.in/dW5TcfEk

I'm doing an audit on climate literacy and climate communications/public engagement training and resources, mapping what's available and looking at what works, for a national Irish research project on climate public engagement. Might you share what training or communications resources you have used or found useful - or if you are a provider of climate literacy or climate communications let me know? I'm obviously researching through all the normal channels but thought it might be good to ask my Linkedin network what training they have used - perhaps within their organisation - and what has worked? Thanks! #ClimateLiteracy #ClimateCommunications #PublicEngagement #Ireland #ClimateSolutions #Training

This is very much of a dream job. When we say "activism", we very often think "action", "mobilisation". We rarely think spontaneously "organising". 350.org has played a key role in the climate justice movement because we've, at our best, managed to articulate these three dimensions together powerfully. Connecting "action" with "masses". "Mobilisation" with "creativity". "Organising" with "distributed". The glue to this has been, and will remain "trainings". This is the position we're hiring for right now: our Associate Director for Global Trainings. It is a dream job, and such an important one. https://lnkd.in/eVvusfuG

Hi LinkedIn network! I'm compiling a list of U.S. states with mandated requirements for conducting vulnerability assessments to enhance climate resilience in infrastructure. If you have experience with or insights into state-specific mandates or programs addressing this issue, I’d love to hear your input—especially for any states not widely covered. Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge!
