EITI (Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative)’s Post

Last week, EITI's Jessica Buendía Sanchez participated in a three-day UNODC-hosted regional conference in #PanamaCity 🇵🇦, focused on combating corruption through asset recovery, #beneficialownership (BO) information, international cooperation, and public contracting across #LatinAmerica and the Caribbean. The event gathered over 60 participants, including representatives from financial intelligence units, company superintendencies, anti-corruption offices and civil society organisations. Key discussions revolved around: 🔵 Strengthening BO systems through standardisation and verification 🔵 Balancing transparency with investor concerns in small states 🔵 The role of BO transparency in ensuring accountability in climate-related projects EITI’s BO reporting template was highlighted as a valuable tool for advancing BO data collection and standardisation.
