Looking for a way to quickly and accurately identify the #plasticType of your samples? Do you want to know if they are #NIRsortable and #NIRdetectable according to different standards? If so, you may be interested in the new #PlasticsReflectivity application from #trinamiX. Plastics Reflectivity is a new application that works with the trinamiX spectroscopy application and the trinamiX portable plastics scanner. It can identify the most common types of plastics: HDPE, LDPE, PP, PET, PS and PVC. It can also tell you if the sample is sortable based on #NIRreflectivity, a measure of how well the plastic reflects near-infrared light. This is important for #recycling purposes as some plastics are more easily detected and separated by NIR sorting machines than others. The application uses a new calibration method that is more accurate and reliable than the previous one. It also allows you to compare results with different standards: the US APR standard, which defines the minimum NIR reflectivity for sortable plastics, and the EU standard, which is based on correct identification of the polymer type. This gives you a better understanding of how your samples would perform in different recycling markets. Plastics Reflectivity is easy to use: open the trinamiX spectroscopy app, select the Plastics Reflectivity application and simply scan your sample with the trinamiX portable plastics scanner. You will get an instant result on your smartphone screen showing the plastic type, NIR reflectivity and sortability status. You can also save and export your results for further analysis or reporting.
