Pakistan's motorcycle industry experienced a boom in 1998, with three Japanese brands dominating the market. Over time, the industry grew, and numerous entrepreneurs ventured into manufacturing, setting up assembly lines and claiming to be manufacturers. However, by 2018, the industry faced a decline due to intense competition, where everyone followed the same approach, leading to a race to the bottom. This resulted in widespread unemployment among those associated with the industry. In 2020, the introduction of electric vehicles (two-wheelers) in Pakistan led to a new trend, where most companies, except a few, relied on a single Chinese manufacturer for products and batteries, assembling and selling them locally. Similarly, Pakistan's auto industry experienced growth in 2001, but the lack of research and development led to a D-F. The industry's decline resulted in unemployment and a lack of innovation. It is crucial for companies to invest in R&D and develop their products, rather than following the same approach as others. It is commendable that some companies are now focusing on e-commerce and investing in R&D to improve their products. It is hoped that others will follow suit and prioritize innovation and self-improvement.
