CIMC SOE Secures Another Order for 20,000m³ LNG Bunker Vessel Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd. (CIMC SOE) has successfully signed an order with Equatorial Marine Fuel Management Services Pte. Ltd. (EMF) for the construction of a 20,000m³ LNG bunkering and transportation vessel. This milestone demonstrates CIMC SOE’s exceptional expertise and leadership in the global market for small to medium-sized liquefied gas carriers and bunkering vessels. Headquartered in Singapore, EMF is a prominent marine fuel supplier and operator of a fleet of around 30 tankers. Their operations focus on providing low-carbon and zero-carbon marine fuel alternatives, including LNG, methanol, ammonia, and hydrogen. Notably, EMF was recognized by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) as the largest marine fuel supplier by volume in Singapore in both 2022 and 2023. The new building is 160 meters in length, 25 meters in width with 15.5 knots speed to meet evolving market demands. The vessel is equipped with the latest WINGD dual-fuel main engine and iCER technology, enabling compliance with IMO Tier III emission standards in both conventional fuel and LNG modes. This cutting-edge vessel reduces pollutant emissions, methane slip, and greenhouse gas release during operations. This week on Bunkerspot, new statistics published by Bureau Veritas Group's VeriFuel showed fuel #viscosity tracked an upwards curve in 2023 across very low sulphur fuel oil and DMA 0.1% grades. Small scale #LNG player Avenir LNG announced it had contracted Chinese shipyard Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering to build two 20,000 cubic metre LNG bunker and supply vessels. Commenting on the deal, Avenir MD, Jonathan Quinn, said the vessels – due for arrival in 2026 and 2027 - will play a ‘vital role’ in ensuring security of supply of LNG and #BioLNG. In the Middle East, Metcore International Pte Ltd formalised an agreement with SOHAR Port and Freezone in #Oman for the implementation and training support for mass flow meter systems in the Port of Sohar. (MFMs will likely be a key discussion point at the inaugural Oman Maritime, Ports and Energy Forum in September.) Japan’s IHI Corporation revealed that its subsidiary IHI Power Systems Co. falsified fuel consumption rates for engines produced at its Niigata and Ohta plants over a 21-year period, with over 4,200 marine engines said to have been affected. In other news, Peninsula announced the deployment of its chemical tanker Aalborg to #Barcelona for #biofuel supply; STAX Engineering signed an exclusive service agreement with AMPORTS Inc. that will bring its emission capture and control services to all auto carriers at berth at California's Port of #Benicia; and speaking to journalists at a press event hosted by Danske Maritime (Danish Maritime) in #Copenhagen earlier this month, the Vice President & Head of Public Affairs for Danfoss, Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen, said #supplychain issues should not be regarded as a long-term barrier for the development of #battery-powered #shipping. On May 29th, Fairfield Chemical Carriers, in collaboration with MOL Chemical Tankers, achieved a significant milestone in their mission to decarbonize the maritime industry. The Fairchem Pathfinder, the first of four 26,000 DWT dual-fuel LNG new builds, successfully completed its inaugural LNG bunkering operation in Singapore. During the operation, the vessel received a total of 1,390 cubic meters of LNG from the LNG bunker vessel “FuelLNG Bellina” through a ship-to-ship transfer. This achievement not only showcases a leap forward in sustainable shipping practices but also underscores the companies’ dedication to mitigating the adverse effects of greenhouse gases (GHGs) on the environment.
