Agriculture and renewable energy have a powerful new, but perhaps unrecognized, connection: Agrisolar. This innovative practice integrates solar panels with crop cultivation, maximizing land use and providing farmers with dual income streams from food and energy production. Beyond revenue, agrisolar supports Ireland’s climate ambitions by boosting biodiversity and strengthening microclimate resilience. To ensure Agrisolar truly thrives, we need policies that streamline planning, grid access, and incentive programs, empowering farmers to lead in Ireland's renewable energy future. #Agriculture #SustainableEnergy https://lnkd.in/dwC7XtyS

Peaches, Grapes, & The Agrivoltaic Farm Of The Future The emerging field of agrivoltaics has come a long way in just a few years. From a focus on pollinator habitats and grazing lands, agrivoltaic stakeholders are expanding their ambitions to raise peaches, grapes, and other crops within arrays of ground-mounted solar panels. Whether or not that blows up the whole argument against rural solar development remains to be seen, but the alliance between farmers and solar stakeholders could swing the balance and help accelerate the renewable energy transition. The Agrivoltaic Revolution Is Coming #AgPV #AgriSolar #Agrivoltaics The agrivoltaic movement goes hand in hand with the falling cost of solar panels. Solar technology was relatively expensive in the early 2000s. To cut maintenance costs, rural solar developers put down gravel and other no-mow solutions for groundcover under the panels. Raising crops was definitely out of the picture. By 2011, though, the US Department of Agriculture was exploring a more holistic approach that embraces solar arrays under the umbrella of sustaining family-owned farms economically...

Unergy introduces its first agrivoltaic projects in Colombia. The mini-solar farms offer solutions to agricultural challenges caused by intense sunlight, utilizing unexploited lands for dual purposes: electricity generation and supporting moderate sun exposure crops and small livestock. This approach aids in reducing water usage and also promotes rural community development. And with an internal rate of return (IRR) of 7-10% and rapid setup, Unergy's model presents a sustainable investment opportunity. #RenewableEnergy #Agrivoltaics #SustainableInvesting #CleanTech #RuralDevelopment #AgricultureInnovation #Solar #Photovoltaic https://lnkd.in/enFen4TQ
