A simple question, but often hard to answer...what do I really want? I will helping people answer this question tomorrow at a free workshop at Lifework co-working space. Sign up using the link below and help distinguish between your SHOULDS and your WANTS.
Booking for our October Community Day is now open! 🙌 We look forward to these days every month, and this one is no exception. As always, this is open to both members and non-members. Join us for free pastries and coffee from 8:30 a.m. Then, at noon, we will have a lunchtime workshop titled What Do I Really Want with Untamed Founder and community member Jim Hughes. 🧗 At 1 p.m., bring your lunch or order from Hartley Farm, and we'll eat at the big table together, family style. It would be great to have an idea of numbers and how many croissants are needed, so members, please book in on Archie for the 31st, and non-members, buy a day pass and check it in. 🥐 And if this is your first time at lifework, don’t forget to claim your free day pass here: https://lnkd.in/dpNFhKGB We can't wait to see you there! 🍁

Next Thursday I get the chance to prompt people to ask themselves a very important question: WHAT DO I REALLY WANT? It's a question many people either: - Can't answer it for themselves but could answer it for others - Aren't actually aware they don't know the answer - Deliberately avoid thinking about because they're afraid of what they'll find It's a question layered with emotions, assumptions and conflicting ideas of self-worth. As a result, wading through the surface-level answers to the real truth can be REALLY HARD, especially if you do it alone. This workshop next week at Lifework co-working space is designed to help you do just that. If you're in the Bradford On Avon or Bath area, sign up and check out the amazing Life Work co-working space for the day. If you're not but find the question interesting nonetheless, why not make time to try and answer it?! #knowyourself #findyourplayground

🌱 Exploring the Meaning of Food in Our Lives 🌱 The Meaning of Food in Life Questionnaire originally identified five key factors that reflect the diverse meanings people give to food: moral, sacred, health, social, and aesthetic. While these factors sparked valuable conversations about food choices, we recognized they were limited in scope. Inspired by our communities, we've introduced four additional factors that resonate deeply with their experiences, fostering richer and more authentic discussions around food: ⭐ Accessible – I choose food that is convenient and easy to obtain. ⭐ Pleasure – Food I eat comforts me and brings me joy. ⭐ Affordable – I carefully consider my budget and the cost of food. ⭐ Familiar – Food I prepare and eat is the food I know well. Drawing inspiration from a beautiful image by Leah's Pantry, we crafted our own visual representation of wholesome foods, community, and abundance. You’d be surprised at what you can learn by simply asking others about their food choices. When we approach these conversations with curiosity and a genuine intent to learn, we can offer more effective nutritional guidance and engage in meaningful community connections. Let’s continue to deepen our conversations about food, together, in community! 🍽️✨

The greatest asset of any food pantry isn't the food, but the people who make it all happen. Food pantries exist not just to give out food, but to serve and empower communities, and that starts with understanding the value of human connection. Volunteers are the heart and soul of these operations, and their role goes far beyond distributing food. If they aren't empowered with the bigger picture of their mission, they risk missing the chance to address deeper needs — emotional, spiritual, and social. A true investment in a food pantry means investing in people — those who serve and those being served. It’s about recognizing that everyone who walks through those doors, whether to give or receive, carries more than physical hunger. There’s a need for compassion, connection, and a sense of belonging. Food can fill stomachs, but it’s the human element that fills hearts and transforms lives. When volunteers understand that they are part of something bigger, they move from just handing out food to making a meaningful difference. They become catalysts for change, helping individuals not only overcome hunger but also find hope, dignity, and community. It’s in this deeper service, where food pantries become much more than a place to get groceries — they become a place to be nourished in every sense of the word. Innovation and willingness to change are crucial for long-term success. Holding onto tradition without recognizing the need for progress can lead to stagnation and, ultimately, obsolescence. #itsnotaboutfooditsaboutpeople
The changing landscape... In this, social capital becomes a lifeline, the invisible thread that unites us. It’s the wealth of relationships, trust, and shared connections that enable individuals to tap into resources they might otherwise never reach. When food pantries foster trust and collaboration, they become more than just places to distribute food—they become the beating heart of the community. They transform the notion of “they” into “we,” creating an environment where everyone belongs. Whether someone is serving or being served, each person plays a crucial role in sustaining the spirit of togetherness. Everyone has a seat at the table. https://lnkd.in/eP3F5YuB
