𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝘂𝘇𝘇𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗞𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿: 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗳-𝗙𝘂𝗹𝗹, 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗳-𝗘𝗺𝗽𝘁𝘆 𝗩𝗶𝗲𝘄 In the world of revenue management, "Half-Full, Half-Empty" perspectives are tossed around like philosophical debates. But what do they really (?!?!?!) mean and why do they matter? Imagine your hotel is at 50% occupancy. Is this a problem? Or an opportunity? 𝗕𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲, 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀: If seeing the glass half full helps you leverage current occupancy to create upsell opportunities and targeted promotions, your overall revenue and guest satisfaction can increase. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆: Half-Full, Half-Empty isn’t just a mindset. It's a strategic approach to managing occupancy and maximizing potential. In scenarios where your occupancy hovers around the halfway mark, viewing it as an opportunity rather than a problem can drive innovative solutions and revenue growth. 𝗙𝗮𝗯𝗶 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲: Forget the buzzwords. Focus on strategy. Understand when to adopt a half-full perspective for greater revenue and profit, even if it means rethinking your approach. That's real revenue management. #innovation #creativity #leadership

The Buzzword Killer: Understanding the Real Speed to Market in Decision Making In the world of revenue management, "Speed to Market" is tossed around like it's the solution to everything. But what does it really (?!?!?!) mean and why does it matter? Imagine your hotel is facing a sudden drop in bookings. You come up with a new promotional strategy, but it takes weeks to implement. Is that too slow? What about a month? Before you start panicking, consider this: If implementing your strategy within a day secures an additional 150 bookings, your overall revenue and market presence increase, even if you had to rush and incur extra costs. The key takeaway: Speed to Market isn’t just about rushing decisions or actions. It’s about timing and efficiency, in rooms, F&B, or any other department. In scenarios like sudden dips in occupancy, swift decision-making can be a strategic move to boost your bottom line. Acting quickly can be the difference between capitalizing on opportunities and missing out. In scenarios where you want to fundamentally change your business mix you might argue to take your time to "weigh all the options" but in reality you are losing time to experiment. Fabi advice: Forget the buzzwords. Focus on strategy. Understand when to leverage rapid decision-making for greater revenue and profit, even if it means higher initial efforts. That's real revenue management. Think of it this way: Perfect is the enemy of good! Screw perfect! #revenuemanagement #success #leadership

The Human Element: Beyond the Numbers In today's data-driven world, it's easy to fall into the trap of reducing complex human interactions to simple metrics. However, as we've learned, true value often lies beyond the numbers. Consider the example of a hotel doorman. While their primary function may seem straightforward – opening doors – they play a far more significant role in creating a positive guest experience. They greet guests, provide local insights, and contribute to the overall ambience of the hotel. By solely focusing on cost-cutting measures, such as replacing the doorman with an automated system, we risk undermining the intangible qualities that make a hotel truly exceptional. It's crucial to recognize the human element in every business. By valuing the skills, knowledge, and empathy of our employees, we can create stronger customer relationships, foster innovation, and ultimately drive long-term success. Let's move beyond a purely functional approach and embrace a more holistic view of business. By understanding the nuances of human behaviour and the power of human connection, we can make informed decisions that benefit both our bottom line and our brand reputation. #leadership #humancapital #businessstrategy #innovation #customerexperience
