My first work social at Addleshaw Goddard celebrating the end of the financial year 🥳 Whether it’s a laid-back dinner after work, a competitive evening go karting or a wholesome lunch time walk… hosting regular out-of-work socials carry many benefits. For example, ✅ they encourage employees to mingle with members you don’t see often due to hybrid work models or workloads ✅ they strengthen relationships even with stakeholders ✅ colleagues get the chance to talk in a relaxed atmosphere ✅ you’re able to celebrate the team ✅ and most importantly, it promotes positive employee well-being and culture 💛 My shy self would not have expected me to attend a work social but I’m so glad I did! The wonderful HR team (like always) made me feel welcomed and comfortable at the event. Overall, it was lovely enjoying good food with good company, and having good chats n giggles over non-work related things especially payroll projects! ✌🏽

This year we've started a tradition of celebrating work anniversaries at Curae Law 🍾 Last week we managed to celebrate both Jasmine Chan and Angus Edwards’ work anniversaries. Jasmine had her second year with us and Angus his sixth - woohoo! 👏 I've learnt that the little things (like balloons and cake 🎈 ) add together to make such a big impact on team culture. How do you celebrate work anniversaries? #workculture #curaelife #curaelaw #perthlawfirms #perthlawyers #doinglawdifferently

"Too many of us are either saddled with workweeks that never end or are working too few hours to make ends meet. Without enough say into our work hours, we juggle the demand for constant availability and work schedules that change unpredictably. Whether just scraping by hour-by-hour or hardly getting a good night's sleep, America's scheduling crisis has reached a breaking point. We are becoming a 24/7 workforce. We want jobs that build towards a prosperous future – but our employers have been taking us in the wrong direction. Rather than treating employees as a resource for success, too many businesses view their staff as a cost to be contained or as an asset to be squeezed for limitless productivity, with no regard for our home lives or our personal aspirations. Instead of using modern technology to deliver schedules that allow us to care for our families and meet business needs, corporations are playing games with working families' time, and forcing moms and students to scramble with increasingly uncertain work schedules, particularly in the growing service sector. Today's workforce has the potential to drive the long-term growth of our economy, but today's scheduling practices are getting in the way. We all need a workweek we can count on – one that allows all of us to care for our families, stay healthy, and get ahead. That's why working people across the country are coming together to restore a fair workweek in our workplaces and communities. The Fair Workweek Initiative, anchored by the Center for Popular Democracy, CPD Action and United for Respect, is driving the growing momentum to restore a workweek that enables working families to thrive. We are committed to elevating the voices of working people to ensure they can shape the solutions that work for their families – whether through improved industry practices or new workplace protections." @fairworkweek https://lnkd.in/eyHgSiP

Why Work Anniversaries Are Actually Worth Celebrating? Let's be honest, sometimes work anniversaries can feel a bit like participation trophies. But hear me out! Celebrating work anniversaries is a chance to recognize the value employees bring to the table. It's a way of saying, "Hey, we see you, and we appreciate your contributions over the years." Plus, it's a morale booster! A little recognition can go a long way in making employees feel happy and appreciated, which can lead to better productivity and a more positive work environment. So, the next time you see someone celebrating a work anniversary, don't just scroll by. Take a moment to acknowledge their accomplishment. And who knows, maybe next year you'll be the one getting the virtual high fives! #workiversary #employeeappreciation #positiveworkculture

We are excited to feature Chantal Williamson, iHR's Senior VP, Human Resources (GTA), for our Employee Feature of the Month! “I was born in Alberta but spent most of my childhood living in Pickering and went to high school in Whitby. I moved to Ottawa for university and stayed there for 8 years before I returned to Whitby in 2006, where I live now with my husband and two kids. I have always been very career driven and love working in human resources. I met Karen Brownrigg, CHRL, CEC at the beginning of my career, while living and working in Ottawa. Karen has always been a great mentor and, with the help of social media, we were able to stay connected. In 2023, I had a year of reflection and took the time to evaluate where and how I want to spend my time. I have a young family and I want to be involved and present for these special years. During my time of reflection, I made the decision to focus on happiness! This led me to make some life changes including joining iHR in September 2023, and I am so happy I did! I would like to share with you a few other things that make me happy and hopefully you can take a moment to find the happiness in your day. 1. Relationships – Friends and family, colleagues, and clients. I love learning from other people, spending time together, exchanging stories, creating memories, and having a good laugh. I am very grateful for the special people in my life and having time with them makes me happy. 2. My kids – Yes, this is another relationship, but these are particularly special ones. I love living life through their eyes, watching them grow, learn, and become their own person. I love seeing the joy I bring them by just showing up and being present. 3. Helping people – Remember all those relationships, I love helping them. I like being an expert in an area and giving advice or just being there to listen. I like when I can make someone else’s day easier or better. I also love working out, travelling, and finding moments to relax. One of my wise friends always says, ‘happiness is a journey, not a destination’ and I will continue on this journey, while doing my best to take those around with me.” #humanresources #employeespotlight #findhappiness

🌟 A Powerful Moment of Recognition at the Pool 🌟 I recently returned to Loews Coral Gables for the second time after writing a review about my experience at their beautiful pool area. What truly impressed me this time was how the hotel took my feedback to heart. They printed my review and highlighted the specific employees who were mentioned and praised—particularly those working in the pool area. 🙌 This is such a meaningful way to show employees that their hard work doesn’t go unnoticed. When businesses take the time to acknowledge their teams, it not only boosts morale but also strengthens the company culture. 👏 As someone who is physically disabled, this is also a reminder to businesses that visibility matters—“I see you, and thank you for seeing me.” 👀✨ I encourage businesses everywhere to find creative ways to show employees they are valued. Whether it’s highlighting their efforts publicly, offering recognition, or simply saying “thank you,” these small gestures can make a world of difference. 💙🌍 #Gratitude #EmployeeRecognition #Inclusion #CustomerExperience #DisabilityAwareness #Motivation #ThankYou #PoolsidePerfection
