We can all contribute to ending hunger, and a good start is to talk to your law makers about the farm bill. Visit the link in the post for more details. #endhunger #foodinsecurity
Recent polling shows 7 in 10 people surveyed want the government to do more to reduce hunger and food insecurity in the U.S. A farm bill that increases funding for The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) and strengthens the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) would offer meaningful support for people facing hunger. 📣 Ask your lawmakers to prioritize investing in critical nutrition programs in the next farm bill: https://bit.ly/3vNpSYp 🧡 Share this post to help grow the movement to end hunger.

Despite repeated health warnings, raw milk sales are soaring, especially with the bird flu spreading among dairy cows. This dangerous trend calls for urgent action and greater awareness. Since the confirmation of bird flu in U.S. cattle, weekly raw cow’s milk sales have jumped by 21% to a whopping 65% compared to last year, reports NielsenIQ. This surge in consumption defies expert advice, emphasizing the urgent need for regulations and public education. Despite known risks, social media endorsements continue, spreading misinformation and undermining public health efforts. Raw milk can contain harmful germs, and the recent outbreak has shown high levels of bird flu virus in infected cows' raw milk, posing a serious health threat. Stop Foodborne Illness will continue to prioritize informed choices and advocating for policies promoting pasteurized milk consumption to combat misinformation and protect our communities' health. 🍏 If an apple a day can keep the doctor away, imagine what eating 30 different types of plants a week could do—it could transform your health for life! 🥝🍉🍌🥕🍋🌶️ A diet rich in plants is proven to reduce the risk of heart disease, obesity, and diabetes. It’s time to focus on what really matters for our health, and plants are the answer! Reposting from @AlexandraRoseCharity, who launched the UK’s first ‘Fruit & Veg on Prescription’ pilot in November 2022, working with GPs and social prescribers in Tower Hamlets and Lambeth. Almost 200 people facing food poverty and health issues have received vouchers for fresh produce—and the results are incredible: 🍏 80% of participants now eating 5-a-day 💪 9 in 10 report improved health and wellbeing ❤️ 7 in 10 have reduced blood pressure 🩺 40% reduction in GP visits 💸 £222k invested in local communities These results prove that providing access to fresh fruits and vegetables not only improves health but boosts community pride and revitalizes local economies. 💰 💰 Now, we’re calling on the Government to fast-track their three-year ‘Community Eatwell’ Programme to make plant-based foods accessible to all, as promised in the 2022 Levelling Up White Paper. 🌍🌱 💡 The future of health is plant-based. Let’s grow a healthier, more vibrant UK! 🌿🥦 #PlantPower #EatWell #HealthyCommunities #SustainableHealth #FruitAndVeg #FoodSecurity #HealthForAll #LevelUp

Today, on #HungerActionDay, let's stand in solidarity with families facing food insecurity and to affirm that access to healthy food is a basic human right. I was born and raised in Gary, IN, a food desert where access to healthy foods is limited. Growing up there and witnessing the disparities in our communities firsthand has fueled my passion to actively combat food insecurity and work toward equitable access to healthy food for all. Everyone needs nutritious food to thrive, yet every day, millions of people in the United States face hunger. Together, by fostering impactful partnerships and creating pathways to equitable food access, we can address food insecurity today and enhance long-term health outcomes for tomorrow. Remember, Every Action Counts. #HungerActionDay #HealthEquity #HealthcarebyFood #CommunityImpact #AmericanHeartAssociation #SustainableSolutions #HealthyCommunities #PartnershipsForHealth #HeartHealth

In some of our nation's rural communities—including the places that grow America's crops—regular access to fresh and nutritious food may not be a guarantee. Grocery stores can be few and far between, and some families might need to travel dozens of miles, or even hours, to access the food we all need to thrive. Federal nutrition programs like The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) help close meal gaps for rural communities—and we have a chance to bolster these programs in the next farm bill. Tell lawmakers to prioritize rural communities by passing a strong farm bill! 📣 Take Action: https://bit.ly/3VUf4CU 🧡 Share this post to help fuel the movement to end hunger!
