🚀 ALstep: The Reliable Workhorse with the Lifespan of an Elephant? 🛠️🐘 Today, we received a rare support call regarding an ALstep—one of five units installed with a UK manufacturer of air fresheners, as showcased in the above video 🎥. Remarkably, this was the customer's first mechanical or electrical issue in seven years of operation, despite not having serviced them since their installation in 2017. The suspected issue? A control card. 🛠️🔍 In 2019, the ALstep underwent a significant upgrade in its electronic control system, transitioning to high-voltage electronics previously exclusive to our top-tier high-performance machines. 🌟 This pivotal update allowed us to remove the fan from the control box—a common component in most competitor machines. By eliminating the fan, we've protected the electronics from dust and debris, leading causes of electronic failure. Since this enhancement, we've achieved almost 100% electronic reliability across our installation base. 📈 We apologise to our customer—the part is easily replaceable, in stock, and the cost is relatively low. Just returned back from Zurich from attending comprehensive product training at Schmid & Partner Engineering AG (SPEAG).  One of the fascinating solutions SPEAG offers is their Dielectric Assessment Kit (DAK): https://lnkd.in/gUJjm-tu DAK measurement systems offer broadband dielectric measurement of liquids, semi-solids, solids, and powders between 4 MHz and 67 GHz. DAK solutions are based on the advanced implementation of the open coaxial probe (OCP) method, in which a Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) measures the reflection coefficient (S11) and then the DAK software determines the dielectric properties (permittivity, conductivity and loss tangent ) from S11. The probes are mounted on a stand and connect via high-quality cable to a user-supplied VNA. Accurate dielectric measurements are needed for research and development, optimizing the design process, quality control and assurance.
