#mnd Connect changes... #MNDConnect is changing to allow the helpline to provide better support to more people affected by MND. From Monday 4 March, the phone lines will be open Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm. Calls will be answered by an automated system which will help quickly direct calls to a person who has the specialist knowledge they need. The service was launched by a group of volunteers in 1997 and the first staff were recruited in 2002. Since then, there has been little change to the way the service operates. The changes, being introduced following a thorough review, will ensure we can answer more calls and provide the very best service, including to people who are newly diagnosed with MND. Emails will continue to be answered daily. The changes are being introduced on a six-month trial basis with results being monitored to ensure they are delivering the improvements we expect.

The screenshot below (from SMH) shows the cause of the issue in tiny text - a device driver called csagent.sys. Here's how to fix it, according to a reliable source: 1. Restart Windows and boot into Troubleshooting mode 2. Open a command prompt 3. Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\CrowdStrike 4. Locate the file matching "C-00000291* sys", and delete it. "Passkeys: A Shattered Dream" https://lnkd.in/gf_5TFQt In 2019 I flew to my mates place in Sydney and spent a week starting to write what is now the Webauthn library for Rust. In that time I found a number of issues in the standard and contributed improvements to the Webauthn workgroup, even though it took a few years for those issues to be resolved. I started to review things and participate more. ... At the time there was a lot of optimism that this technology could be the end of passwords. ... Since then Passkeys are now seen as a way to capture users and audiences into a platform. What better way to encourage long term entrapment of users then by locking all their credentials into your platform, and even better, credentials that can't be extracted or exported in any capacity. ... At this point I think that Passkeys will fail in the hands of the general consumer population. We missed our golden chance to eliminate passwords through a desire to capture markets and promote hype. ... That's right. I'm here saying passwords are a better experience than passkeys. Do you know how much it pains me to write this sentence? ... But at this point, in Kanidm we are looking into device certificates and smartcards instead. The UI is genuinely better. Which says a lot considering the PKCS11 and PIV specifications. But at least PIV won't fall prone to attempts to enshittify it.
