First microprocessors we studied in college and the number of transistors packed in them included the z80 (8,500), Intel 8088 (29,000), Motorola. 68000. (68,000 duh!). The current Intel i9 has from 4 billion to 57 billion transistors (M1 Max). First microprocessor l ever touched , studied assembler programming for, and longed for was the Zilog Z80. Today at Nvidia GTC 2024 , Nvidia CEO announced the AI game changing GPU which has 208 billion transistors .
