By fostering an environment that normalizes recovery, we can break down barriers that exist and encourage open conversations. The Power of Community Support 💪🏼 Running Chat N Chew has taught me many lessons, one of which is the incredible power of community support and connection. Volunteers and donors not only provide essential aid but also experience a profound sense of purpose. Bringing people together to share experiences and foster belonging makes a significant impact on those we serve, blessing both givers and receivers. Another key lesson is the importance of versatility and hands-on involvement. From running a food pantry to collecting essential household items, managing a ministry means wearing many hats. This hands-on approach deepens our connection with the community and strenghtens our relationship with those we serve. One person can make a difference, but a community changes lives, one family at a time.

Interested in my network’s thoughts? Does volunteering kill your own business? Its a big question. When I mean ‘your own business’ I mean if you work for yourself, are a small business where your business relies on you to be there and present in order to survive. I have many friends that work in large businesses, or govt departments where they are given leyway to volunteer or in fact have it as part of their job description (and are paid the hours) Also, I have noticed that there seems to be a stigma as to ‘if they can afford the time’ they must be doing alright’. Im sure this is true for some people. For me, community comes first, to the detriment of my business and with pretty much zero understanding from a majority of the immediate local community, but really, everytime I look at it and hear from people ‘why do you do this’, the answer is simple. ‘Results and I care’ #community #care #help #empowerment #survival #understanding
