The time for talking is over. It’s time to deliver with a coherent Agricultural Policy that backs British Farming. Full payment of what our farmers were promised when exiting the EU. It’s time to Reset the focus on home grown food production with regular payments farmers can bank on. With extreme weather conditions and geopolitical turmoil Food security is more critical than ever. An underspend on promised funding isn’t a saving for the Treasury to grab. It’s pledged and our farmers need it more than ever.
At #NFU23, the Prime Minister pledged to back British farming in government. We now need him to deliver on his promise. Take action ahead of the budget on October 30. Email to your MP today👉https://ow.ly/EpiO50TLPVP

In 48 hours, Westminster will redraw the agricultural landscape. Again. But here's what nobody's talking about: The real story won't be in the headlines or the obvious policy shifts. It will be buried in the footnotes, in the subtle regulatory adjustments that could fundamentally reshape how UK farming operates. At Preston Waldon, we're already mapping out the second and third-order effects. While others focus on the immediate impact, we're analysing how Wednesday's announcements could ripple through the agricultural sector over the next decade. The questions keeping us up at night: What happens if environmental targets collide with food security? How might inheritance tax reforms reshape rural land ownership? Where are the hidden opportunities in supply chain restructuring? Uncertainty breeds opportunity - but only for those who know where to look. Follow our analysis. We'll be going live with insights that matter, not just the ones making headlines. UK Agricultural Policy. Budget 2024. Agriculture Updates. Agricultural Property Relief. #Agriculture #BackBritishFarming #FoodSecurity #Budget2024 #AutumnBudget2024 #Farming.

Please read this article. As a farming industry this is what we are dealing with. A total lack of knowledge or understanding . Farming is about being a primary producer, but also a rural land manager, community member, environmental consultant , sustainability expert and most of all a person devout about feeding our country. Where are you going to find educated qualified and experienced people to do this job with Labour’s attitude once the likes of John McTernan has finished with us? Our new political masters fail to recognise the financial and structural value that generations of farmers have delivered to our country. Many managed to fit in fighting 2 world wars in between farming!! I’m already looking forward to hearing the advice from Government the next time the Suez is blocked and we’ve no Famers in the UK to keep the supermarket shelves filled. At least 80,000 will March on London in a weeks time. Without farmers there is no food, no environmental land management and no countryside. Please support our farmers. #farming #farminsurance #food #countryside #agriculture #savebritainsfamilyfarms
❌ Former Labour adviser John McTernan has claimed Britain 'no longer needs farmers' in a row over Agricultural Property Relief. Great Yarmouth MP Rupert Lowe has called on Mr McTernan to apologise for the comments, which he said were 'offensive, incorrect and deluded'. Prescot farmer Olly Harrison said he simply 'had no words' to describe what the former Government adviser had just said. James Wright, Exmoor farmer and Conservative Rural Forum member, said it felt like farmers were being 'thrown to the walls' which had 'disrespected' rural people and the countryside. "from someone who doesn't represent the Government" unquote https://lnkd.in/ejieWk-A Then again, protesting over a measure which will not adversely affect farmers where either a married couple have personal assets worth upto £3 million pounds) using existing allowances) nor those with assets above £3 million and the gumption to make the admin changes necessary in the next two years IS a pretty petty and infantile response from an industry with a recent track record of appearing very entitled indeed...... If you really really don't want to take the options available to you to avoid IHT then sell up. Don't pretend to hold the nation to ransom. It won't work. It won't put UK food production at risk. The land will be bought up. Possibly - if we're all very lucky and a rash of sales cuts land prices - it will be bought by new entrants to the industry. People with energy, forward thinking, and a willingness to embrace the needs of this century and the public interest. Otherwise clever larger owners who understand the IHT rules don't need to apply to them will buy it. Your choice - learn from the clever owners or sell to them.

The Northern States Governors’ Forum, chaired by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, convened with the Northern Traditional Rulers’ Council on 28 October 2024 in Kaduna to address key regional issues, including security, youth empowerment, agriculture, climate resilience and taxation reforms. Briefed by General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff, on northern security challenges, the forum discussed measures to strengthen peace, aid flood-affected communities and collaborate with the Federal Government to resolve the ongoing power blackout due to infrastructure vandalism. The forum highlighted the need to empower traditional institutions in security efforts and reaffirmed commitment to agricultural development to combat food insecurity. Emphasis was placed on supporting the President’s livestock reforms and implementing climate mitigation measures, especially irrigation. Governors also voiced concerns over recent tax reform proposals, stressing that the distribution model for VAT must fairly reflect service consumption rather than headquarters location, ensuring equitable regional development. Lastly, the forum urged calm amid economic challenges, as authorities work to alleviate hardship. #NorthernGovernors #Nigeria #Security #Development #ClimateAction

The Union Cabinet has made a significant decision by increasing the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for raw jute, a move that aims to bolster the income of our farmers and enhance the agricultural sector. This initiative reflects the government's commitment to supporting the livelihoods of those who contribute to our economy. 🌾💰 #AgricultureSupport #JuteIndustry #FarmersFirst
