Their sacrifices allow us to live the lives we love, and for that, we are forever grateful. 🙏 Now, let's chat about something near and dear to my heart – family businesses. 💼 Memorial Day isn't just about fireworks and fun; it's also the perfect time to reflect on the importance of family businesses and well-being. Here's why I think Memorial Day is the best part of the year for family business and well-being: 1 Family Bonding: Memorial Day brings families together, and what better time to celebrate the unity and strength of family businesses? 2 Reflecting on Values: It's a chance to reflect on the values that drive our family businesses and how they contribute to our well-being. 3 Gratitude and Growth: Expressing gratitude for our team members and recognizing their contributions fosters a positive work environment and promotes growth. 4 Work-Life Balance: Memorial Day reminds us to prioritize work-life balance and take time to recharge with our loved ones. As we honor our heroes and celebrate the spirit of family, let's also celebrate the resilience and dedication of our family businesses. For every accolade you see on the outside, there's a whole bunch of people and things that happened behind-the-scenes to make that happen. Case and point: This past Tuesday, Victoria Marshman & Dani S Kagan, Founders of Mave & Chez luxury ergonomic slippers (which, if you don't have a pair yet, GET. A. PAIR), invited me for lunch to help brainstorm the growth of my REUNION dance party with them. They sponsored one of our REUNION Dance Parties this Summer and left feeling so inspired and alive while saying, "What's your big dream with this? We want to help you make it happen". And so, this Tuesday, we did just that. They offered a ton of amazing ideas. Suggested a list of people I should connect with + offered to connect me with them, Then paid for MY lunch. I walked away thinking: "Huh?!?!!?" How, and why did that happen? It felt too good to be true. But, building and growing REUNION is showing me the true value of community and collaboration. And, that, when you build something straight from the heart, and lead with integrity, people WANT to help. In just 10 months, we've been able to celebrate a lot of wins with REUNION, including a huge feature on Narcity this week. But, one thing I know for sure, is that none of this would be possible without all of the people and support that happens behind-the-scenes.

This is an emergent phenomenon of privilege passing down from pre-Independence era. This is proof that reservation laws in India have not been effective to achieve its objectives, to bring about equality in society as per the preamble of the constitution of the country. Imagine that you are in the desert, and you want to get out of the desert, there is a road, and you are in a car that breaks down every 10 km. Can the solution ever involve burning the car down? No, even if the car is not perfect, burning the car, unless you get a better car does not make sense. And it does not make sense to burn the car first and check afterwards if other solutions exist. In the same way, doing away with reservation is not a solution, but either repairing the reservation mechanisms, with oversight or getting a better system that allows at least 95% of backward classes to come economically, socially and intellectually at the same level as the national average for dominant castes is a viable solution.
