🎉Celebrating my THIRD anniversary at Compass!🎉 Reflecting on the past three years, my life and career have undergone a huge, once unimaginable, shift. My time at Compass has been nothing short of transformative, shaping my professional capabilities, personal identity and overall confidence. Here are my top three takeaways from three years: 1. 🙋♀️Surround yourself with people smarter than you. When I joined the team, I was struck by the caliber of individuals—bright, driven, and engaging. Initially intimidated, I look back today and realize I integrated into this exceptional community at some point, without even noticing, evolving into a peer among equals. 2. 🙇♀️Listen to understand. Operating on a team where input is valued, regardless of title or tenure, is refreshing. Everyone was brought to the table for a reason, and our diverse backgrounds, questions, ideas, and ways of processing information has led to great discussion and solutions. 3. 👪Join a community, not just a company. Looking back, so much of my transformation is thanks to unwavering support, continuous training, and a culture of empowerment at Compass. Embracing challenges, pushing boundaries, and striving for excellence are daily endeavors, where failures are learning opportunities and wins are celebrated. It is crazy to realize I belong among this talented team and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to continue to grow here. AND, who knows? Maybe in three more years, I'll be running the place? (Just kidding… give me at least another ten.)

Last week it was my 1 year anniversary since changing job roles to Health and Safety. That time has flown by and it's honestly been the best, most rewarding year of my working life so far. However, I have never had as much imposter syndrome and seriously doubted my own ability. I was used to a job I'd done for 12 years and knew inside out so this has been a huge adjustment. The following is advice I'd give to myself this time last year: ● You can do this. You will pass your exams and push yourself completely out of your comfort zone and you will love it. ● You are not mithering your colleagues. Stop apologising for asking questions. It's the best way to learn and you will identify areas for improvement this way. ● You are making a difference. You bring your own skills, knowledge and experience to the role which help you to see things from a different perspective. ● Nobody knows everything. Cut yourself some slack and take your time. Never thought I would be wearing a hard hat, doing risk assessments and audits but I actually love it. Bring on the next year! 😄

Happy New Month Everyone. It is a new day and a new month of this year that will never come again. So surprising how time flies. Reminiscing, we can all remember celebrating New Year not long, like it was yesterday. Now it is June. The first half of year 2024 is coming to an end. I hope and pray that all our prayers and expectations will be met in this new month. Today, I implore you to take a short period of time out of your busy schedule to brood. Think of the past months and be grateful for both the little achievements and bourgeois ones. Remember being grateful is the access to more blessings and opportunities. Also do not forget to gauge yourself. Ask yourself thought provoking questions like; - How well have I developed myself within these past months? - What have I learnt that will sharpen my understanding? - How have I made impact on others etc. Ask yourself these questions. Last week, I celebrated my 4th anniversary at PepsiCo. While three years might sound more attractive and five marks a small jubilee, these four years deserve a moment of reflection and appreciation (apologies to those/my people who dislike long posts 🤭). I made the decision to change job in the midst of the pandemic, during a time when the concept of working from home was new and unknown to everyone, especially to someone like me who works in communications. From that perspective, it might have seemed frightening. However, ‘calculated risk’ is a phrase that perfectly describes the decision I made in 2020. My journey at PepsiCo so far can be summed up in two words: transformation and mentorship. These past years have been a rollercoaster of personal and professional growth. The most important lesson I’ve learned is that everything is changeable, respect towards those around you is crucial and it's vital to give yourself credit when you’ve done something well. We often associate development with structured programs and training, but I’ve come to realize that mentorship is the most effective method for growth and improvement. It’s the hidden mentorship that happens in everyday work, quietly and humbly. There are a few people I’d like to highlight, but they don't like to be exposed in this way, so I will skip that 😊. I am immensely grateful to them, as well as to all my colleagues, some of whom have become my friends -- I hope they will continue to be part of my journey, no matter where it leads. ☀️ The photo below is of a Zen garden that looks anything but Zen; it has become a gathering place filled with countless stories and memories. And that, for me, is the best kind of Zen. 🍀

Last Saturday it was 26 years ago that I joined Waters Corporation and typically I won't pay a lot of attention to my work anniversary, except for the big round numbers, like 15, 20 and 25. Though this time - thanks to the features of LinkedIn - from the moment I woke up on Saturday and still today I keep getting congratulation wishes in direct messages and comments and likes on a post LinkedIn generated itself. So I started to think ... 😀 First of all it's nice to get all these messages and I am sure it's good for the dopamine-instant-social media happiness emotions. 🎂 26 years is indeed a lot and probably not that common sense anymore nowadays. ❓ So ... what made me stay for 26 years? 🔬 Absolutely the customers that really want to work together, share their challenges, define problems and think about solutions. They keep us at the top of our toes, moving the needle day after day with respect for each other's needs. 🌳 For sure a group of good managers that supported me, that challenged me and that gave me opportunities to grow and to learn. 🕸 The big network of colleagues in the "maze" that Waters sometimes can be. 🚫 The people leaders that made it obvious on how I would not like to lead people, and therefore emphasizing the importance of transparency, trust and admitting that there is plenty that you don't know (yet). 🌈 Opportunities that came via specific projects totally out of my comfort zone, and giving me the challenge that I need regularly. I love to start things from scratch or dismantle chaos into something that gives synergy. Not doing this in isolation, though bring a diverse group of people together to tackle the problem. Learn from the different viewpoints to make something better, better than yesterday. 🌞 Thank You, I am grateful for the 26 years. Let's see what the future brings ...

OTA is proud to celebrate its 20th Anniversary. We are grateful for the clients and partners who have supported our team throughout our journey and become our lifelong friends! Here are 6 lessons I have learned from my experience running OTA for the past 20 years and that I try to live by. 1) Surround yourself with people whose company you enjoy and whom you respect and trust. Life is all about relationships and the company you keep. Be discerning. 2) Never ever procrastinate. Those who live by: “put off today what you can do tomorrow” are mistaken. Instead, zero in on the tasks at hand and complete them with a sense of urgency. Have a “don’t just talk about it” mindset. Get it done! 3) Take calculated risks. Always be on the look out for new opportunities. This may require extra thought and creativity and could lead you out of your comfort zone. But, risks can be rewarding. And if they don’t work out, but you gave it your all, you’ll have learned a lot. 4) Never give up. When a plan doesn’t unfold the way you wanted, you can cry in your soup for a few minutes, but then change your course and persevere. We all experience straight up bad days, weeks, and even years (as once told to me by my kids’ pediatrician). But remember that tomorrow is a new day that brings with it fresh possibilities. Nothing can replace a positive attitude. 5) Have fun and laugh a lot always. Life is not about finding the treasure at the rainbow’s end. It’s about enjoying the ride on the rainbow. Make sure you take the ride with those people who unconditionally love every crazy little thing about you. That journey will sustain you in the long run. 6) Help others. Show your gratitude for your own comforts by finding ways to be generous and kind to people in need. Your acts of kindness will bring you the most meaning and happiness to your life. We are excited about what’s to come for OTA in the next decades. Although the digital age is upon us, there will always be a need for live and in-person engagements to keep us connected as humans. February is an exciting and festive month for me, brimming with fresh starts and joyful celebrations! It's not just the beginning of a new year, but also the time to commemorate my anniversary and birthday where I celebrate all the wonderful moments, achievements, and growth that I've experienced over the past year. Celebrating my 2-year Anniversary as a Business Owner To say that time flies is an understatement. September marks two years for me as a small business owner. I am deeply grateful for all of those who continue to help me on this journey, and the many clients who have trusted me to serve their needs. I am joyfully celebrating the career I designed that plays to my strengths and honors my values. Here are some of the valuable lessons I learned along the way… 1.    Don’t take yourself too seriously – embrace humility. 2.    When you have a bad day, lift someone else up. 3.    Be an advocate for others. 4.    Be willing to ask for help and offer to help others. 5.    Your best laid plans will change – be ready to pivot and be resilient. 6.    Your value is not measured by the hours worked but the impact you make. 7.    Play is a connection to creativity. 8.    Rest is an investment in your wellbeing. 9.    Prioritize time to think, reflect, and dream – this unlocks energy, focus and productivity. 10. Take good care of your body – your life depends on it.
