Beginnings, endings and everything in between… Two months ago, I celebrated the 2-year anniversary of working as an independent – and what a ride it’s been so far! 🎢 When they say it’s a rollercoaster it’s really true. From the butterflies and excitement of starting out, to the first time reality hits. “So, I’m the one needing to do everything – and customers will not magically appear 😮”! Along with the anxiety, the confusion, the debating with oneself on whether the colour on the homepage should be more or less green, the experiments, failing and succeeding – and having to do it all over again and again to grow 🌱 Last year I made it well across the 1MDKK revenue mark and for sure didn’t celebrate enough. But the gratefulness of being able to live truly well from what I do, that’s something I think about on a weekly – if not daily – basis. I’ve been lucky enough to play with corporate strategy, operating models and all things in between with Tine Rau Schiøtt at Demant, helped build connectivity and direction in the TDS leadership team over the course of a year under Sven Hauptmann at LEO Pharma, supported Lisa Tammi and Mello in finding the right path matching innovation to market, worked with individual leadership teams to catalyze the real conversations about how to move and win together and had countless conversations with leaders and other inspiring people on how we can bring more connectivity into our organizations. Simply because results are better when we think holistically about solutions rather than fostering silo-building. Right now I’m excited for what the next period will bring, but what I do know is that it will involve a new podcast launching soon (Katharina Theill Kofoed I’m beyond excited for our collaboration!), a new talk on Connectivity to be announced, sharing more of my writing on SubStack and in articles, probably feeling scared as hell once in a while, drinking good coffee, doubting myself and celebrating in equal measures. And of course a shout-out to the amazing women who have been rooting and sending opportunities my way this past year: Susanne Palsten Buchardt, Christine Bruhn Tuxen, Pernille Mailand Fossing to mention a few – but the network of gratitude is so much bigger than that. Grateful 🙏 #fromcorporatetoindependent #advisor #leadership #independent #career

🚀 Thriving Together: A Journey of Growth and Governance at AHNZ 🚀 Following up on our recent conversation about board positions opening up, we're excited to share more insights into our governance journey and introduce a pivotal figure in our story – our Board Chair, Ant Carter. Seven years ago, AHNZ embarked on a transformative journey by engaging a professional board chair. Ant, with his rich background in the military, large business, and entrepreneurial ventures, brought a new dimension of strategic governance to our team. His approach? A blend of dynamic, flexible structures and a deep focus on culture, strategy, and operational excellence. This philosophy has not only shaped our governance but also fueled our growth and success. Under Ant's leadership, we've embraced a model where culture is at the heart, supported by strategic pillars and operational excellence. This holistic approach has led to remarkable financial health and organisational thriving. The past twelve months have been especially transformative, enhancing our governance and deeply impacting our culture and strategy. As we look to the future, we're mindful of the importance of board succession. We're seeking new members to join our journey – individuals with a heart for growth, a keen financial or legal acumen, and a desire to contribute to a thriving culture. Interested in being a part of our story? Reach out to Joseph Youssef at joe@allheartnz.org.nz or call 0274944470 to discuss this unique opportunity further. We're looking for good people, first and foremost, those who share our commitment to excellence and community. Together, let's create an environment where our team, our culture, and our business flourish. #Leadership #Governance #BoardSuccession #AHNZJourney #ProfessionalGrowth

🚀How did luna ship 34 features in just 1.5 years? Through the leadership of Jo Goodall – one of luna’s Co-Founders 👏 We want to re-introduce our leadership team, for any new followers of luna, so keep reading to meet Jo and comment your questions for her below, too! Jo takes care of… 📱 Product & tech: working closely with the tech team (and teen ambassadors) to deliver new features and improve existing features to keep the app sticky 🤝Partnerships: owning the outreach to brands to secure new partnerships that luna’s teen community will love – from GymShark to Here We Flo + so many more 💸Finance: from seed rounds to day-to-day budgets, Jo makes the tough calls when it comes to luna’s finance and steers the company priorities in the right direction A bit about Jo, and her background: 🏆Ranked 3rd globally for CIMA Enterprise Management exam (6,037 candidates) 🏃🏻♀️Qualified personal trainer & marathon obsessive 🎤Just like Co-Founder Jas, a lover of musical theatre and karaoke! What does Jo’s Co-Founder & real life bestie have to say? “I couldn’t imagine running luna with anyone else – Jo is a compassionate, determined, and exceptional Co-Founder who has an incredible ability to spin many plates all at once and do it all at such an incredible standard. From a personal perspective, Jo supported me through an extremely hard time in my personal life last year when my mum unexpectedly passed away just 1 week before my wedding. With no notice, Jo stepped up to pick up my work responsibilities and I took time out immediately – business metrics and milestones did not slip while I was away. I was able to take the time off I needed guilt free and return to work with so much support. I think this demonstrates resilience and alignment between us both as a pair.” -Jas Schembri-Stothart Have any questions for Jo about her role at luna? Drop them in the comments below ⬇️

Just found this picture in the depths of my hard drive. A throwback of the Wowza marketing team circa 2019. It was my first *real* stint at a privately owned company, and boy was I impressed by how fast we moved without corporate bureaucracy. At the time, Wowza was still operating as a #holocracy. Holacracy (per Wikipedia): a method of decentralized management and organizational governance, which claims to distribute authority and decision-making through a holarchy of self-organizing teams rather than being vested in a management hierarchy The pros of holocracy were: — Minimal red tape — Autonomy and empowerment — Transparency across the organization There were also cons, of course: — No clear path to promotion — Some struggled with accountability — Having to “check in” before meetings The pandemic hit about 10 months later, and we all eventually went our separate ways. But it sure was fun to be part of such a high-performing team. Pictured: Evan Paul, Laurie Wherley, Anne Balistreri, Lindsey H., Dave Domino (Rose Power somehow missed the photo op!) I'm curious what new management frameworks are gaining traction? #corporateculture #employeeengagement

🎭 “Why so serious?” Last week, my 10-year-old daughter 👧 happened to be at home during our standup meeting. Observing the serious tone, she casually asked: “Why so serious?” 😅 Her innocent question struck a chord. Over time, our standups had become quicker, and sharper, but… mundane. She even suggested a game to lighten the mood: 🎲 “Two Truths and a Lie.” We gave it a shot, and it was an absolute hit! 🎉 The energy, the laughs, and the engagement were just what we needed. Now the team thinks we should do it more often! 💡 What about you? How do you make your standups more fun and engaging? I’d love to hear your ideas! Drop them in the comments below! 👇 #Leadership #TeamEngagement #WorkCulture #StandupMeetings #FunAtWork #TeamBuilding #Productivity #WorkplaceHacks #CTOLife Emvigo Technologies

Mary-Frances Winters, CEO of The Winters Group, Inc. (TWG) is a foremost thought leader in the DEI space. When I first met her, I knew she was a powerhouse, but I didn’t fully grasp the magnitude of her impact on the industry. As the company's CFO and part of their leadership team, I have had the opportunity to witness how she interacts with her team—how she refers to them (not as employees but as team members), her respect for their contributions, and her commitment to creating a supportive environment. Last year, she even collaborated with her team members and published on a book entitled "Racial Justice at Work: Practical Solutions for Systemic Change". She doesn’t just talk about values like Community and Fostering Peace and Well Being; she lives them! What she asks Fortune 500 companies and large nonprofits to do in supporting and empowering their employees is exactly how she treats her own team. I found that tremendously admirable. Working with her and her team has taught me a great deal about being an empathetic and thoughtful CEO. I’m honored to speak with her on my upcoming LinkedIn Live about: How she built a financially stable company over the past 40 years How she has created her internal culture How she has navigated the evolving landscape of diversity, equity, and inclusion within workplaces and the larger society. Join us Monday, November 25 at 9 AM ET for my next Linked In Live: Dancing with Numbers episode. Here’s two easy steps to join. 1. Mark your calendar and set your alarm for November 25 at 9 AM. 2. Hit the notification bell on my LinkedIn profile to get a reminder when we go LIVE. #SmallBusinessFinance #ProfitabilityTips #ScalingYourBusiness #FinancialPlanning
