It is so key that a strategic and sophisticated approach to building and leveraging INFLUENCE is a critical part of this role. There is massive opportunity for an emerging climate philanthropy leader who is *comfortable* being more visible, accessible, engaging, and non-traditional. This is not your father's or mother's 1950s climate call. And, the #ClimateInfluence is real.

I find it incredibly frustrating to get hired on to do political organizing and operations work that isn't entry level. I'm very good at what I do, and I don't think that it's unreasonable to say that quite a bit of it can be done remotely, especially since there are a lot of non-partisan organizations that already do. I can absolutely travel so that when I need to be places in person, I can, but a lot of positions have actually grown beyond the need to be in office, especially when they still require travel. I live in a location in North Carolina that's roughly an hour away from most of the big cities in the western part of the state. In that time, I can get to Asheville, Boone, Winston-Salem, and Charlotte. therefore, the practice of having all of these partisan jobs (my preference) based out of Raleigh feels a bit like it is disenfranchising the western portion of the state. When I worked on coordinated campaign 2 years ago, I regularly did work above and beyond my position. I had to do so because the organization did not have enough organizers and my lead would have been entirely overtaxed otherwise. But, I also have experience in doing operations and can speak specifically to the needs that rural areas (a growing area of organizing need) have that are different than our typical urban structuring. I know that I'm highly capable of more than being a glorified canvasser, and just want the chance to prove it.

An actual unicorn* here. *of a job This is such a special opportunity if you're a fundraiser who's obsessed with creative. Honestly. Direct Marketers/Supporter Experience Obsessives/Loyalty and Engagement Gurus have to be Creatives, at heart: relentlessly inquisitive and prone to getting overexcited and geeky about propositions, short and long copy, design, insight, testing and strategy and finding inspiration from all that (and then having to live and die** by how things perform). This magic job gives you dedicated time and space to really focus on finding The Thing that'll inspire hearts and minds, to help the Red Cross. Tis the dream. Also: I can't say enough good things about British Red Cross as an employer. I'd go even further though with the good things I'd say about Rebecca Shore as a boss and leader (even though she'll do a little sick in her mouth to read me say so), and the actually remarkable Ami O'Neill and Katie Johnson - working with them changed my career for the so-much-better.
