*CALING ALL AMBITIOUS FEMALE FOUNDERS* We have recently launched a sister company to Real World Consultancy | BCorp, and are excited to announce the launch of the very first circle... queue The Female Founders Strategic Circle, Aka FoundHER Circle! Launching in January, it is designed to help founders to get all of the support and clout of having a ‘board of directors’ without the restrictions or red tape that a formal board brings.(https://lnkd.in/eUwkYaNh) Think Board room, without the ‘boredom’! I am going to be personally chairing the FoundHER circle so I am very excited for it. Each circle has a maximum of 10 seats with all participants gaining entry through application. There are no conflicting seats to keep the group open, and all members sign a circle agreement which includes an NDA. As part of the circle you get: * Personalised Support: A dedicated Strategic Chair (Aka Me!) to help you to refine, challenge and polish your strategy with a 6 hour one to one kickoff strategy day, quarterly one to one power hours, and monthly group check-ins. * Peer Power: A high-impact quarterly peer board meeting offers the same authority as a formal board, alongside masterminds, assurance, and benchmark reporting, BUT held in 5* locations with great food and great company! * Networking & Community: Connect with inspiring female founders who are all on the same trajectory and open to support, all within a safe and confidential environment. We also have a pay it forward initiative for all members to offer up 2 hours of their time each month to another member. We are on-boarding people before Christmas and have strategy day availability for December and January ready for the first official board meeting on February 4th. If you take one of the first 5 seats in the circle, you will also get 6 months of free coaching with an RWC coach worth (£1650). We have set up a webinar for this Thursday so that you can find out more and get 'application ready': https://lnkd.in/eakq7_7h. Or, if you're keen to secure your seat, you can just book straight in for an application call with me to start the ball rolling: https://lnkd.in/eud_GFSq

I am grateful to one of my partners for sharing this report: https://lnkd.in/eX8jntTs The reports notes that gender bias in investor scrutiny of entrepreneurs was followed by a massive difference in the funding of female-led and male-led startups, and mentions the bizarre statistic that female entrepreneurs receive only about 2% of all venture funding despite owning 38% of the businesses in the US. This is also happening in the UK, as explained to me by a leading figure within Innovate UK and at a recent event 'Lessons from Leading Women Tech Entrepreneurs' organised by Women in Telecoms & Technology (www.wittgroup.org). In a room full of incredibly well qualified and experienced entrepreneurs, several people mentioned their experience of investors asking different types of questions of male and female entrepreneurs - both when deciding whether to invest and afterwards. Why are we making our most talented women work so much harder than their male counterparts to access funding? Why do male academics cite their male colleagues' papers more than those of their female colleagues? Why are female inventors so under-represented? I am starting to find out, thanks to a loan of 'The Authority Gap' by Mary Ann Sieghart. I know I should have educated myself earlier.

In our latest #CommunityCafe, we gathered insights from industry leaders on how to implement #DEI in event strategies effectively. Here are three tips to help you embrace diversity, equity, and inclusion in your next event: 1) Commit to Incremental Changes: Start with small, manageable steps that can be implemented immediately to enhance DE&I, as small actions can lead to big impacts. 2) Leverage Technology for Inclusion: Use technology to break down language barriers and facilitate inclusive communication to ensure everyone can participate fully. 3) Update and Publicize DE&I Policies: Continuously evolve your DE&I policies to meet modern standards and expectations. Make these policies visible and inclusive by involving all stakeholders in the review process. Recently Ignited Word developed an interactive metaphor-based theory of change with and for WomenStrong International. When we consider the power of metaphors to make abstract ideas concrete, we can begin to use them in practical ways. WomenStrong International believes that with no-strings-attached funding, tailored organizational strengthening, and peer-to-peer learning, women-led organizations can create social change in their communities and beyond. What better way to illustrate this than a 'pollinator's garden'? Click the link and explore the garden to learn more! https://lnkd.in/eRRXt_g7 #communicatingimpact

"I can tell that you really care" This comment was made to me over 6 months ago by someone I'd never met before, at a March Women - Women in M&A event. And, without a shadow of a doubt, I definitely care far too much. As any of my friends will tell you, I get insanely obsessed over the smallest of things. But that's one of the secrets behind the growth of March Women - Women in M&A. ❌ We may not have an army of sales, BD or marketing people, our own networking spaces or the budget of a global organisation ✅ We may be fully bootstrapped, through a combination of my personal investment in the business and membership/sponsorship fees But I'm not building it as a BD exercise or to generate clients and work for my legal business. I'm building it because I've spent nearly 25 years in this industry seeing a lot being said about increasing the representation and participation of women, but not a whole lot of tangible results. Being one of the few senior women in the room was lonely, frustrating and challenging. But until women are bringing in the same level of revenues as their male counterparts, their spot at the table is isolated at best, tick-box at worst. So how do we change that? By building out networks and relationships, and not being shy about being in the room to do business. Relationships are at the heart of a successful M&A career - whether that's as an investment professional, professional adviser or service provider - but for various reasons those relationships don't come so easy to women. That is the driving-force at the heart of March Women - Women in M&A - a platform to give women the opportunities to create more deals, more promotions and more compensation. In just over a year since the beta launch - and just over 6 months since the relaunch - look how far we've come: an oversubscribed, standing room only event in collaboration with Shoosmiths, the most active UK law firm for deals last year. Our first member survey in December confirmed that our members are indeed seeing more deal opportunities, being promoted and making more money. There's lots more planned for the rest of 2024, will you be joining us and transforming your deal-making career?
