ISDA CEO Scott O'Malia has published a new derivatiViews blog exploring the role of derivatives in enhancing the competitiveness and resilience of EU financial markets.   The composition of the European parliament may be different following recent elections, but the list of challenges facing EU policymakers – European competitiveness, economic resilience, energy security and sustainability – remains the same. Very interesting session yesterday at the Residence Palace in #Brussels for the presentation of the Seventh Capital Markets Union KPI Report. The Report by AFME (Association for Financial Markets in Europe) written in synergy with 11 EU Financial Services associations clearly points at the necessity of freeing up resources, to deliver on the substantial financing needs for European companies highlighted by Mario #Draghi and Enrico #Letta. #CapitalMarkets #Investment

Huge step for the Swiss and UK financial industry. Swiss Federal Council adopts dispatch on agreement with the United Kingdom on mutual recognition in financial services https://bit.ly/4cVjv56 At its meeting on 4 September 2024, the Federal Council adopted the dispatch on the approval of an agreement between Switzerland and the United Kingdom (UK) on mutual recognition in financial services. The agreement boosts competitiveness and fosters the close cooperation between the two major international financial centres.

On last September 9th, I had the pleasure to share Banque de France’s perspective on securitization at the Peterson Institute for International Economics’ Financial Statements series.   Thanks again to Nicolas Veron and Sebastian Mack for a very stimulating exchange of views !   As a central bank and supervisor, Banque de France pays particular attention to the asset backed securities (ABS) market. Why? Because ABS play a prominent role in the Eurosystem collateral framework (19% of mobilised assets as of Q2 2024) and they are a key tool to finance the real economy and the transition (#CapitalMarketsUnion).   But despite an improving risk/return ratio in the current interest rate environment, several obstacles are still hindering the securitization market development.   So, let me share again my insights on what we can do to revive the securitization market : 1️⃣ Streamline transparency requirements; 2️⃣ Foster incentives for originators and investors with a fair and accurate prudential treatment; 3️⃣ Reflect on the idea of a pan European platform to accelerate standardisation    You can watch the replay here : https://lnkd.in/eMZ_j-QC
