Beginnings are always tough… For scientists, the start of a career is the most vulnerable moment. We all remember our first time in the lab—for better or worse. It’s a defining phase where we figure out what kind of scientist we want to be—or if we really want to become scientists at all. This is why mentoring is crucial. ✨New students look up to their mentors, who are responsible for setting the right example. I’ve been lucky to have mentors who not only taught me good science but also showed me the right values. From them, I have learned that taking the time to develop and refine our mentoring skills is just as important as any scientific training. 🧠 We often talk about the pressures and challenges of academia, but we can improve this environment ourselves! It starts with creating a space where ideas can thrive, and quality work is valued over quantity. How can we generate a better environment for research? #ScienceMentorship #AcademicCulture
