Anode-Cathode overhang violation?! 😱 🙅♀️ Not quite, but cutting it close! When we scanned 500 Samsung SDI 2170 battery cells in a couple days ⏱ and ran our overhang algorithms on them, we found that a few cells had some anode-cathode overhangs pretty darn close to zero 🤏. When designing and producing lithium-ion cells 🔋, the anode electrode must ALWAYS "overhang" its cathode neighbors. Electrode overhang violations can cause lithium plating, which in turn can lead to the creation of an internal short in the cell ⚡❗. Internal shorts will drain your battery pack 🪫, and, if left unaddressed, lead to a thermal runaway 🔥 Check out this outlier cell 📊 on the Glimpse portal here: https://lnkd.in/dUksqYtM
