Breaking news: UN security council resolution for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. The resolution, put forward by the 10 non-permanent members of the Security Council, demands an immediate ceasefire for the month of Ramadan, the immediate and unconditional release of hostages and “the urgent need to expand the flow” of aid into Gaza. Most of us have seen the pictures of children starving, and there are a lot of people caring about hostages, so hopefully the resolution is immediately implemented by all sides to stop the suffering and allow for a transitioning into a post-war environment respecting israeli security concerns while allowing people in Gaza and the Westbank a self-determined life. https://lnkd.in/eWVN4S4T

For over two months, North Gaza has been subjected to a siege and cut off from essential resources and aid deliveries. Already devastated hospitals have come under attack, and hundreds of thousands have been displaced in catastrophic conditions with nowhere safe to go. Our new legal update provides an assessment of the situation in North Gaza pursuant to the law of occupation and the law of siege warfare, concluding that Israel’s conduct is unlawful and triggers the obligations of third States. 🚨 WATER WAR CRIMES IN GAZA: Our latest report finds that Israel’s cutting of external water supplies, systematic destruction of water facilities and deliberate obstruction of aid have reduced the amount of water available in Gaza by 94%.
🚨 WATER WAR CRIMES IN GAZA: Our latest report finds that Israel’s cutting of external water supplies, systematic destruction of water facilities and deliberate obstruction of aid have reduced the amount of water available in Gaza by 94%. 💧 People are surviving on just 4.74 litres of water per day – just under a third of the recommended minimum for survival in emergencies and less than a single toilet flush. 🚰 Israel has destroyed 100 per cent of all wastewater treatment plants and 70 per cent of all sewage pumps. ⚠️Israeli military attacks have damaged or destroyed five water and sanitation infrastructure sites every three days since the start of the war. 🔎 Read the full report, ‘How #Israel has weaponised water in its military campaign in Gaza,’ via the link in our Press Release: bit.ly/WaterWarCrimes_ Halima Begum, Oxfam GB Chief Executive: “Now is the time for a reset on UK policy concerning Gaza. We implore the new UK Government to look at all the evidence and question whether it is morally or legally right to allow arms sales to Israel to continue in the face of such atrocities. Ending arms sales is one step towards helping secure a ceasefire, and to allow a full and unfettered humanitarian response including provision of life-saving water supplies, as well as the safe release of all hostages.” Join us and demand the UK #StopArmingIsrael: ➡ bit.ly/StopArming_Israel #CeasefireNOW

There are few crimes a government can commit as unconscionable as denying humanitarian aid to those in distress. The countries who continue to support Israel in its blatant war crimes; primarily the US which, alone at the UN, used its veto to block the demand for a ceasefire in Gaza; but also countries like Germany and UK who maintain their complicity with Israel’s actions. https://lnkd.in/dUK2wCSe

UNRWA has suspended aid deliveries through Gaza's Kerem Shalom crossing due to escalating theft and insecurity. This announcement is a result of two recent loots by armed gangs near the crossing and the death of three people employed by the World Central Kitchen. Israeli forces have killed over 30,000 Palestinians across occupied Gaza and the West Bank in less than 150 days. These are just some of the people killed across both occupied territories every day of the siege. Most victims listed here were killed by Israel’s attacks in Gaza. Others died from starvation after Israel blocked aid deliveries to Gaza. Some victims highlighted lived in the occupied West Bank, where Israeli forces and settlers have killed over 400 Palestinians – including over 100 children – since Oct. 7. Their names and photos were compiled here from family testimonies, verified news reports and civilian projects aimed at documenting the victims of Israel’s attacks. Gaza’s Ministry of Health was comprehensively tracking the names and ages of the dead in the first weeks of Israel’s siege but announced in mid-November it had lost the ability to count and verify the dead due to the scale of Israel’s attacks, the destruction of critical infrastructure and repeated communication blackouts. AJ+ has worked to methodically document and verify these victims using Ministry of Health data, personal testimonies and information based on the first reports or confirmations of their deaths from relatives, friends and news reports from Gaza. Due to the challenges of reporting on an active war zone, we made our best effort to verify all the dates of death but could not fully confirm them all. #News #Gaza #Israel #Palestine #Palestinian #WestBank #Martyrs #Genocide Source: AJ+

While today's UN Security Council's vote for a ceasefire in #Gaza has been passed, we remain discouraged by the fact that it will not be permanent, scheduled to conclude on April 9th, coinciding with the end of Ramadan. It is now imperative to stop this violence, which is pushing the Gazan population to famine levels. We hope this vote will pave a nonviolent way, as envisioned by its voters, to a lasting cessation of the unprecedent destruction we are seeing unfolding in the Holy Land. We remain steadfast in asking for, not only an IMMEDIATE, but most importantly a PERMANENT #ceasefire to allow: ▪️Humanitarian aid enter by land into Gaza, ▪️Reinstatement of funding to UNRWA ▪️Liberation of all hostages Only through a permanent ceasefire will there be the opportunity to create the necessary space and time to establish an effective diplomatic pathway and envisage a just peace in the Holy Land.
