There are many organizations that offer financial assistance. The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society is one of those organizations and their lengthy track record of support is better than stellar. Robert Ruark joined me to talk about the types of assistance the organization offers. Specifically, he covered the trends and the types of assistance that are currently being requested. No one cares about the late nights you worked in the military, how quickly you jumped to meet the boss’s demands, the training that kept you away from family, or even the combat deployments. What truly matters—what people remember—is how you made them feel when they came to you with a problem. Were you just a “company man,” siding with the organization at all costs? Or did you strengthen the organization by taking care of the people—listening, understanding, and showing you valued them? That’s the difference between someone looking back and saying, “The military was good to me,” versus, “It screwed me over.” No one sits around saying, “My officer stayed up late to give us a solid plan we could execute.” That’s not what sticks.

Wartime covers so many areas, so much in our lives is undergoing transformation right now. How we live? How we live everyday?In my column I shared one of the fragments of it.
