#NewVideo: Launched as part of the #16DaysOfActivism, our short documentary dives deep into the harsh realities faced by women and children living on the streets in Delhi as they grapple with the lack of access to basic sanitation facilities. With all four public washrooms in the area locked and unusable, residents share their stories of survival, resilience, and the constant risks they face, including safety concerns, health hazards, and societal neglect. From tragic accounts of lost lives to the collective frustration of unheard voices, this film sheds light on an issue that affects the dignity and safety of the most vulnerable. Through powerful testimonies and on-the-ground narratives, we expose the urgent need for systemic change and advocate for the right to safe and accessible sanitation for all. As a Calcuttan and a proud citizen of India, the recent crime against Dr. Moumita Debnath at RG Kar Hospital has deeply shaken me. This tragedy underscores a critical truth; our calls for justice must be more than mere words; they must ignite a collective action towards real change. In a society where patriarchal norms still hold sway, the struggle for women’s rightful place and safety remains ongoing. Despite the freedoms we celebrate, true INDEPENDENCE for women remains an elusive goal. It is imperative that our systems evolve to genuinely empower all women, ensuring they can live and work without fear or discrimination. Let’s channel our outrage into meaningful action. It’s time to confront and dismantle the patriarchal structures that impede women's full autonomy and equality. Justice for Dr. Moumita Debnath and countless others depend on our collective commitment to fostering a society where every woman can claim her rightful place without compromise. Imagine a future where our sons are the allies we need—let’s make that vision a reality. In a country where women face increasing violence, abuse, and discrimination daily, it's extremely necessary to shift the narrative. Instead of solely focusing on protecting our daughters, we must invest in educating our sons. India's rising cases of sexual assault and violence highlight a pressing need for change. Women continue to feel unsafe in their own homeland, a reality that calls for deeper reflection and action. As a community, we must prioritize teaching our sons about respect, empathy, and moral integrity. It’s not just about imposing responsibilities but instilling values that shape their understanding of right and wrong. We must guide them in embracing culture, righteousness, and appropriate behavior, ensuring they grow up with a strong moral code and emotional awareness. True safety and equality start with how we condition the next generation. By educating our sons to value and respect women, we pave the way for a society where everyone feels secure and cherished. Let’s build a future where women can walk freely and confidently, knowing that the men around them are allies and protectors. It's time to champion a culture of respect and understanding. #womensafety #educateyourson #mindset #mentalhealth #counselindia

#Repost @duttasriparna with @use.repost ・・・ 🌸 **Empowered Voices: Shattering Class Barriers Through Women-Centric Community Research** 🌸 As a multidisciplinary artist, I’m breaking down socio-economic class structures and addressing issues of othering. Through my project in Mumbai, Bangladesh, and now Delhi, I document women’s voices on malmal fabric, creating a tapestry of anonymous stories. Collaborating with NGOs, I conduct mindful workshops with domestic workers, garbage cleaners, and marginalized Muslim community workers, teaching color theory and facilitating expressive activities. These workshops provide a space for women to escape their struggles and express their rights, problems, and grief through art. In my book, I bridge socio-economic divides, bringing lower-middle-class workers and privileged housewives into the same space. Their stories reveal the profound impact of class on their struggles. Feedback from participants highlights the joy and relief they experience through creative expression. For victims of domestic violence, these workshops offer a powerful medium for healing and expression. Women communities, and volunteers in Delhi joined us in demanding mini buses to improve accessibility for marginalised groups in the busy city. The messages painted on the city’s streets are demanding safe public transport, especially for women, who greatly depend on it for their daily routines. Their active involvement highlights the importance of grassroots engagement to drive positive change within communities. We have been consistently advocating for feminist cities that are inclusive, affordable and safe. Join the women of Delhi in demanding safe and sustainable public transport. 𝗜𝘀 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹❓ - After seventy-seven years of Independence, can we really claim ourselves to be free? - Today our nation, our country, our hometown, our workplace, our school and even our home is not a secure corner to breathe safely. Although women are serving the nation in protecting the borders, educating future generations, political and economic development, business, medicine and most importantly in creation of the species of humankind whereas their security, freedom and solitude is challenged. - A night or an evening candle march will never guarantee the end of such heinous acts of rape, molestation, abuse and domestic violence. A strong, severe law and order must be established with immediate effect. Or either, future may evident more female foeticides. - Every mother must take an oath today to teach their children the actual flavour of equality and equity. If a girl is taught to cover herself after a certain age, a boy should also be taught to do the same. If a girl is trained not to pee in public, the boy should also not be allowed to do that. If a girl is prepared not to roam at night, the boy must be also educated the same. At the same time, one thing must always be remembered by all of us that modernization does not emplify less clothes, alcohol consumption, smoking and partying. -Rules should be equal for all irrespective of any gender. -We urge to see an independent tomorrow. ❓ Was This the First Rape Case We've Heard Of❓ Why does it feel like a personal loss? What has changed in our world that we feel so unsafe? These haunting questions have been with us for centuries, yet the pain remains as fresh as ever. Think back to the stories of Sita’s abduction by Ravana and Draupadi’s Cheerharan by the Kauravas tales from ancient history that reveal a disturbing truth women have always been forced to pay the price for societal failures. Even then, they were judged, just as rape victims are judged today. Why has society consistently failed to prioritize humanity and justice? It is time we asked ourselves: What responsibility do men have in maintaining the respect and dignity of women in our society? Why must women continually bear the burden of shame and blame, while the true culprits walk free? As a father of a daughter, I find it unbearable to think that this cycle of injustice continues. I wish for justice, not just for my daughter, but for every daughter. It’s time we, as a society, raised our children to stand up against injustice, challenge these harmful norms, and fight for a world where respect, equality, and humanity are non-negotiable. 💬 Let’s have a real discussion How can we, as individuals and as a society, break this cycle? How can we ensure that the next generation does not repeat the mistakes of the past? #StandUpForWomen #JusticeForAll #JusticeForMoumita #Kolkatarapecasejustice #EndRapeCulture #SocialResponsibility #Parenting #RespectForWomen #HumanityFirst #MenForChange #Myshishu

Sharing my latest co-authored article with @singhkanwal10, published in Outlook Publishing (India) Pvt. Ltd. Titled: “The Perfect Victim Paradox: How Society Judges Rape Survivors” After nearly a decade of fighting for women’s rights, the harsh reality is that brutal incidents still shake us to the core, making us question what real change we’ve achieved. The truth is painful: despite all the efforts, society still judges and fails rape survivors. Billions of funds, policies, and promises won’t make a difference unless we address the root cause—a mindset that continues to devalue women. This article isn’t just about another story of injustice; it’s a call for a radical shift in how we view and treat women. Change isn’t just necessary; it’s urgent. We need more empowered voices to rise, demanding respect and equality, not as a favor but as a right. https://lnkd.in/gJFNmxeS
