New report by AWID & Mama Cash with the support of Count Me In! Consortium📄 Feminist movements receive just 1% of all gender-focused funding, while majority of available funding goes to large, mainstream organisations, governments or remains within the funding development agencies. Meanwhile, feminist and women's rights movements play a critical role in securing lasting change. This is why there is a need for increased, direct funding and resources for feminist and women's rights movements and organisations. In this report, AWID & Mama Cash analyse how modalities of funding do - or do not - work towards this goal, identifying enabling practices that can be replicated, increased in scale and scope, and adapted. Flexible funding for feminist movements should be the norm, not the exception! In case you missed it, we announced 24 new strategic grants partners in April. Despite the vital role they play, feminist movements are massively underfunded, receiving less than 1% of Official Development Assistance globally. Organisations and networks that work to sustain feminist movements often operate on shoestring budgets, relying on small, short term, and highly restricted grants. This kind of highly restricted funding is time consuming to manage, and limits innovation and flexibility by tying organisations to rigid project frameworks and timelines. Find out who our grantees are https://lnkd.in/dSq7VqkA

As the authors of “Half the Sky” argue, women’s issues are humanitarian issues and shouldn’t be marginalized. They shine a light on the fact that when women and girls are held back, it doesn’t just affect women. Rather, whole societies suffer. 🌎 In truth, women’s empowerment doesn’t just serve women, it serves all of society in profound ways. And we can do so much more together than we can alone! 🙌 Learn more about the universal value of women’s empowerment. 💪 #WomenEmpowerment #StrongWomen #WomenLeaders #WomensHistoryMonth #StrongHumanCapital #HumanPotentialAdvisors #LeadershipDevelopment

COUNT HER IN: INVEST IN WOMEN, ACCELERATE PROGRESS🎉 Today is International Women's Day and this year the campaign will focus on a world free of bias, stereotypes and prejudice. Women's achievements will be celebrated around the world to raise awareness about discrimination. Across the VCSE sector there are inspirational women tackling issues, solving problems, building and supporting communities. In the charity sector today, there are many dynamic female individuals. These include Farah Nazeer CEO of Women's Aid, Morella Kayman MBE - Co-Founder of the Alzheimer's Society and Béatrice Butsana-Sita recently appointed as CEO of the British Red Cross. However, across the sector there is a significant gender imbalance. Women make up 68% of the charity sector’s employees but only between 56-63% of the sector’s CEO’s. There are also twice as many male trustees as female. Action Hampshire has bucked this trend with 7 out of 10 trustees being female. The majority of employees are female and thanks to a flexible work policy it is easier for families to balance childcare or caring for relatives with work. 'IT'S WOMEN ONLY FOR A REASON' A great discussion at Women's Workshop in Amble last week for Community Foundation serving Tyne & Wear and Northumberland On The Table Talk. The women talked about rural women and discrimination, barriers for women in Northumberland, and ideas to create funding that better meets the needs of women and girls. And of course why women's only spaces are not just 'nice things' but necessary. Women need space to breathe and simply be, not just crisis services. One of the most powerful points raised (and there were many) was the way women, and the funding designed for women's services, often defined by so called 'women's issues'. VAWG, DV, and unequal care, are not women's issues they are discriminatory acts women are subjected to, not issues inherent to or belonging to women!

Voices of Strength: P2P Women Share Their Stories In an insightful interview conducted by Saffiatu Barrie, the women of the Parents2Parents (P2P) Community Support Group discuss their daily challenges and the difficulties they face in supporting their families, particularly their children. These women, many from remote villages, describe the obstacles they encounter in providing for their loved ones amid prevailing poverty. Despite these struggles, the women are determined to break the cycle of poverty and are seeking supporters and partners to help realize their dreams. By providing mini business grants, we can support these women in creating meaningful change in their lives, their children's futures, and their communities. Your partnership can empower them with the resources they need to achieve their goals and make a significant impact. https://lnkd.in/d2ttig-X
