Task: clean out greenhouse + plant winter seeds Actual activity: literally anything + everything else: • Put away the laundry • Realised I couldn’t find a pair of dungarees (they’re bright orange so I don’t know how I’ve lost them) • Emptied every single item of clothing out of every cupboard and drawer I own to create a floordrobe • Still not found the orange dungarees • Put away approximately one-third of my clothes • Made a cup of tea • Done the washing up • Played a game on my phone • Made toast • Gone to the loo • Replaced the soap, thus sparking a total rearrange of the bathroom cupboards • Walked past the greenhouse giving it the side-eye, on my way to release the TinySheeps • Made another cup of tea • Sat down and fell immediately into a sit-pit (NEVER SIT DOWN) • Heard too many noises at the same time and snapped at Joe • Apologised to Joe who discovered the source of my annoyance (myself) and levered me out of my sit-pit and into the greenhouse You know how long the task took in the end? How About: 4 How about if schools taught children to grow plants at home for food. And schools had a dedicated period to learn about growing fruits, greens and vegetables at home in tiny spaces. Students would grow lemons, green chillies, and a variety of plants. They would keep nurturing these plants for years in a small home garden, even if living in an apartment. They would maintain a video blog detailing the journey of how their home gardens evolved, as they learnt new growing and nurturing techniques. And they would be graded on the basis of how they made these home gardens thrive.
