Our Commitment to Safety in Action: Quarterly Refresh and Refocus Workshop At Diona, we believe in a culture that prioritises the well-being and safety of our team and community. Reflecting this commitment, our teams across the Water North Zones Program came together for their Quarterly Refresh and Refocus Workshop, held at our Eagle Farm Yard. This event was a clear example of our 'Stop for Safety' philosophy in action, where we take time to reflect on our practices, learn from our experiences, and reinforce our commitment to safety and mental well-being. A Day of Engagement, Learning, and Team Spirit The day kicked off with a team breakfast, setting the tone for a workshop that was as much about building camaraderie as it was about learning. The morning sessions were dedicated to enhancing our safety practices, with interactive demonstrations on lifting road plates and manual handling, alongside in-depth discussions on risk management. These sessions, informed by insights from across the industry and our own experiences at Diona, encouraged active participation. The feedback and suggestions collected are invaluable, promising to further refine our safety and operating procedures. Transitioning into the afternoon, the focus shifted to mental well-being with a poignant session led by a guest speaker from the Healthy Tradie Project. The presentation emphasised the importance of psychological health in the workplace, providing practical advice on maintaining well-being through exercise, adequate sleep, healthy eating, and engaging in enjoyable activities. The day's activities concluded with a wall-climbing challenge at Urban Xtreme. Reinforcing Our Core Values Through events like the Quarterly Refresh and Refocus Workshop, Diona reinforces its core value of we care for people’s well-being. It's a tangible expression of our 'Stop for Safety' approach, where pausing to reassess how we work ensures that we not only perform to our best but also safeguard the health and well-being of our team and the broader community. It is again that time of the year , there's a special season that adds yet another flavor to the office chaos – Ramadan! That's right! Ramadan isn't just about fasting and soul-searching, it's also about mixing up the corporate stew with a pinch of diversity and a spoonful of inclusivity. I wish Ramadan Kareem to everyone celebrating.   So, what's purpose of Ramadan ? Imagine it is like Olympics of fasting, where instead of competing for gold medals, we challenge ourselves spiritually by abstaining from food and drink from dawn to dusk. It's a time for introspection , discipline and maybe a bit of craziness caused due to hunger. It is the most important time for all Muslims to earn spiritual points.   Most of you must be wondering, how does Ramadan fit into our work? Ramadan teaches us the true meaning of empathy and understanding. When your colleague is fasting, it's not just about skipping lunch,  it's about supporting their spiritual journey. In essence it is a team-building challenge on steroids! You may already have seen it, your team member's stomach growling louder than the office printer, yet they are nailing deadlines like a pro. That's the spirit of Ramadan – powering through hunger, spirituality and deadlines with style!   And let's not forget the after-fasting party! Ramadan isn't just about holding off on eating, it's also about breaking the fast - literally. We all eagerly wait for the iftar gatherings. You don’t have to be a Muslim to join these fun filled food festival where we come together to feast, remember the dates , samosas and the kababs and the laugher roaring through the office until our stomachs hurt, and the cherry on top are the hunger-induced stories.   In conclusion, Ramadan is more than just a month of fasting and spirituality. Ramadan is a celebration of diversity, inclusion, and resilience in the corporate world. So, whether you're fasting or feasting, let's embrace the spirit of Ramadan and spread a little extra kindness, understanding, and maybe even a extra after-hours snacks around the office. ### Chai Pe Charcha: A Serious Yet Funny, I think So, Around 4 o’clock every day, I go to the office pantry for a routine that is more important than attending meetings: Chai Pe Charcha. With a hot cup of chai in hand, I go and participate with coworkers/friends in what can only be termed an ugly mix of professionalism and stand-up. Chai time is usually characterized by loud bouts of laughter and chatter. I am discussing a live project with someone seated on my left, and someone on my right is doing a spot-on rendition of our manager with all her mannerisms. It is just wonderful how our biscuit and a cup of chai can make an otherwise boring monotonous day at work. In these gatherings, I tend to be the one who ends up mediating. For instance, some time back, we were arguing over a viral marketing campaign. I made such a presentation that we fell into an animated argumentative debate. “How about we add some comedy to this campaign as we do to these conferences?” I asked. And that is how we made this campaign – Professional but fun. Some of my outlandish ideas as well have been given birth in this session. Once, I advocated for the on-the-spot organization of the talent contest in the office to heighten the spirits. It was perceived as a joke at first. A few gulps of chai and some coercion later, we had a talent fest in the office. In the end however, Chai Pe Charcha is not only about tea; it is also about the people there, the ideas that come up and perhaps the more informal side of work as well. So, cheers to more chai cups and what they have to offer! ☕💬 --- **Note**: Do not forget this is a place where seriousness is, to a point, effectively blended with humour, the way it should be with a good cup of tea. 😉
