According to the Global Solar Council, it took 68 years to reach an installed solar PV capacity of 1 TW, but only an additional two years to double that to 2 TW. To put the scale into perspective, 2 TW of solar power is equivalent to the combined total installed electricity capacity of the United States, India, and the United Kingdom, and it could potentially power around one billion homes. https://lnkd.in/eQ4fq6CW

Powering Millions: PM Surya Ghar Yojana’s Vision For Free Solar Energy Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana on February 15, 2024, aiming to transform India’s energy landscape with the world’s largest domestic rooftop solar initiative. This ambitious program seeks to provide solar power to one crore households by March 2027. By March 2025, installations under the scheme are expected to exceed 10 lakh, doubling to 20 lakh by October 2025, reaching 40 lakh by March 2026, and achieving the final target within the next year. The initiative focuses on offering free electricity to households by subsidizing rooftop solar panel installations. Households receive up to 40 […] Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/genanUAk #solarenergy #alternativeenergy #solarpv #pvsolar #photovoltaic #cleanenergy #cleantech #climatechange #india #pmsuryagharyojana #renewableenergy #rooftopinstallations #solarenergy #subsidy

The solar industry is witnessing a remarkable transformation with the rapid growth of floating solar power. Once a niche concept, it is now projected to reach 77 gigawatts (GW) globally by 2033, according to a report by Wood Mackenzie. The Asia-Pacific region (APAC) is expected to lead this revolution, accounting for 81% of the floating solar market—or 57 GW—by 2033. India, China, and Indonesia are the top markets, set to contribute 31 GW collectively. In Europe, Germany, France, and the Netherlands will dominate, with Germany achieving 2.2 GW. Despite slightly higher initial costs compared to ground-mounted systems, advancements in PERC and TOPCon module technologies are reducing costs significantly, fueling this sector’s expansion. Floating solar offers innovative solutions for energy needs while optimizing water resources, making it a game-changer for sustainable energy. Will this 77 GW projection be surpassed? Only time will tell. #floatingsolar #solarenergy #renewableenergy #sustainability #energyInnovation #solarpowered #solarinstallation #solarpower

Incredible news this week, as solar energy is breaking records by becoming the fastest-installed technology in history. In 2023, solar PV and wind power comprised approximately 80% of global generation capacity. The total global installed solar capacity has also surpassed 1.4 TWs, marking a tenfold increase compared to just a decade ago, with its capacity doubling every three years. With a remarkable growth rate of 20% per annum, solar energy is on track to surpass fossil gas in 2024 and coal in 2025. This progress can be attributed to the increasing demands of a growing population and the growing social acceptance and endorsement of renewable energy, with solar leading the charge. In addition, Australia has the world’s highest rates of rooftop solar per capita, with around one in every three homes generating their own power. A mere decade ago, solar uptake was nowhere near as popular or widespread as it is today. The technology was perceived as expensive, inefficient, and inaccessible to the average consumer. In 2024, the average cost per watt of solar PV panels was around $3.50 to $4.00. Fast forward to 2024, and we've witnessed a remarkable decline in solar costs due to technological advancements, economies of scale, and increased competition in the market. So much so, that the average cost per watt of solar PV panels has plummeted to around $0.20 to $0.30, marking a substantial decrease of over 90% within the span of a decade. What was once a niche market has now become a global powerhouse, driving unprecedented growth and reshaping the energy landscape for generations to come. ACLE is proud to see this shift taking place as we continue to expand operations in line with this market growth.
