Fernando Vasco Chironda’s Post

💡 Energy poverty is one of the EU’s greatest challenges—are we doing enough? Between 35 and 72 million people (8–16% of the population) in the EU face energy poverty, unable to keep their homes adequately warm. This stark reality forces many to make impossible choices: paying the bills or putting food on the table. For vulnerable households and those experiencing poverty, the impact is even more devastating—damaging health, well-being, and quality of life. The EU has rolled out policy instruments over the years to address this crisis, but here’s the big question: Are these policies making a real difference? If you’re ready to dive deep into this critical issue, join me at the Right to Energy Forum on Monday morning, December 2, in Brussels and online. 🎙️ On behalf of EAPN - European Anti Poverty Network I’ll be chairing the opening panel discussion: “Can the Fit for 55 Package align climate action with social impact goals to tackle #EnergyPoverty?” Joining me and some brilliant minds who will share insights and spark real dialogue: 🇪🇺 @Veronique Marx, DG-ENER, European Commission 💼 Tuscany Bell, European Federation of Public Service Unions (EPSU) 🔍 Louise Sunderland, Regulatory Assistance Project (RAP) This is your chance to learn, engage, and be part of the solution.
