🌍 Tackling Europe’s Phosphorus Crisis: Challenges and Sustainable Solutions 🌱 Phosphorus, a vital nutrient for agricultural productivity, is at the heart of a supply crisis in Europe. The EU depends on imports for about 68% of its phosphorus needs, leaving it vulnerable to rising global demand and geopolitical disruptions, such as the conflict in Ukraine. These factors have driven fertilizer prices to unprecedented levels. During the 2022 energy crisis, for instance, nitrogen fertilizer production costs surged by 90%, with prices climbing 149% compared to 2021. This dramatic increase has forced many farmers to reduce fertilizer use, jeopardizing crop yields and food security while heightening dependency on imports. Fertilizer costs now make up as much as 12% of total input expenses for arable crops—an unsustainable challenge for the agricultural sector. However, there’s a sustainable solution. Organic waste streams, such as nutrient-rich sludge from dairy and food processing factories, present a cost-effective alternative. This by-product is rich in phosphorus and nitrogen, making it an excellent biofertilizer. By repurposing such waste, we can reduce reliance on imported fertilizers, mitigate environmental harm, and support the EU’s Farm to Fork Strategy, which targets a 50% reduction in nutrient losses by 2030. With an innovative approach, we offer farmers a cost-effective and eco-friendly solution by transforming sludge from food and beverage factories into high-quality biofertilizers. Our efforts reduce waste, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and contribute to a circular economy. Together, we’re building a sustainable future while addressing Europe’s phosphorus crisis head-on. #SustainableAgriculture #PhosphorusCrisis #Biofertilizers #CircularEconomy #FarmToFork #GreenFarming #Dairyfert

Europe plays a significant role in the global sulfur market, accounting for about 20% of the global sulfur market. The European sulfur market is projected to grow at a compound annual rate (CAGR) of 3.3% through 2029, from 77.30 million metric tons in 2023 to 97.41 million metric tons by 2028, driven primarily by demand in the fertilizer sector and industrial use. 🚦 Sulphur plays an essential role in plant nutrition, however the significant reduction in atmospheric sulphur emissions, through strict environmental regulations, decreases the natural deposition of sulphur in soils, which also increases the need to use sulphur through fertilizers. SML Limited (Formerly known as Sulphur Mills Limited), as a leading company in agricultural innovation and development, presents new technologies and formulations, with a special focus on the revolutionary product #TECHNO_Z, which optimize the nutrition of your crop based on this nutrient, making it more efficient and sustainable, acting on its productivity and improving soil health. 🌱 The European market is at a pivotal moment of growth and innovation and, at SML Limited (Formerly known as Sulphur Mills Limited), we are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and committed to contributing to a more sustainable, profitable, and productive future. 📈🚀 To learn more about our new range, don’t hesitate to contact us! #specializednutrition #innovacion #portfoliomanagement #biologicals #smlEU #sml #MoreFromLess #TransformingAgriculture #SustainableAgriculture #TruecostofFood #ORT #NUE.

Optimizing Palm Oil Production with Portable NIR Technology: A Sustainable Solution Palm oil remains one of the largest sources of vegetable oil production per hectare. However, debates around deforestation and the use of fertilizers persist. But what if the solution wasn’t to increase land or fertilizer use? We can optimize oil production by enhancing the fruit's dry matter content with Portable NIR technology. Raising the dry matter from 40% to 45% increases the oil yield, boosting revenue by $21,250 per 1000 tons of fruit. CSMT is committed to driving sustainable palm oil production. #PalmOil #Sustainability #CSMT #NIRTechnology #QualityOverQuantity

Biochar application modestly improves rice yields and reduces methane emissions, but higher rates are not significantly more effective. Lower annual applications (2 t/ha) are recommended to avoid adverse effects like nutrient immobilization and toxic compound accumulation, ensuring sustainable long-term benefits for rice cultivation.
