“Making Memories in Social Care” In social care, our work is so much more than just a job—it becomes part of who we are. After 17 years in this sector, I’ve learned the importance of creating joyful memories, not just in our personal lives, but also through the work we do every day. At the end of a long but rewarding event, Paula Cashmore RGN 💚💙 it was the best way to capture the wonderful moment, and it’s a memory I’ll always cherish. Even after a full day of discussions, the smiles and laughter remind me why I love working in this sector. If you don’t already have one, why not start a Happy Memory Book in January 2025? Write down those moments that remind you why you’re in this sector. On tough days, those memories can give you the strength to keep going and making a difference. Check out Paula Cashmore RGN 💚💙 video - it’s a perfect snippet of joy to inspire us all. Let’s celebrate the positive moments we create in social care—together!

It was a steep learning curve organising the recent day conference, but very much worthwhile. The kindness and generosity of all the speakers was key to its success and they deserve the most thanks. However, Alka Sahnan wasn't going to let the day finish without Jonathan Cunningham capturing the joy and thanking me at the end of the day. Exciting Times at the Midlands LSIP Celebration ⭐ Amanda Knight was delighted to attend the Midlands LSIP (Local Skills Improvement Plan, part of the #DfE led Local Skills Improvement Fund) Celebration event, where so many passionate professionals are working together to drive economic growth and enhance skills across the region. 🔑 Key Sectors with Skills Priorities Identified: - Manufacturing & Engineering - Construction - Health & Social Care 📊 Key Transferable Skills Highlighted: - Digital Literacy - Leadership - Adaptability Not surprisingly, behaviour was voted as a key development priority for employers when considering knowledge, skills, and behaviour. At Cognisco, we recognise that these three elements are deeply interconnected: People need the right #knowledge, Build #skills on that foundation, and Demonstrate the appropriate #behaviours when applying them. Another important question raised was: "How can we measure behaviour?" By combining these three elements with #confidence, Cognisco’s MyKnow 365 provides a framework to measure and predict likely behaviours. This ensures your teams are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and behaviours they need for success. #MidlandsLSIP #DfE #SkillsImprovement #EconomicGrowth #Cognisco #MyKnow365

Since the pandemic, many more events happening over Zoom, which really opens up opportunities for Welsh learners who don’t have opportunities to practice Welsh in their area. Some of these virtual events are specifically designed for learners, while others consist of talks or discussions conducted in Welsh. These events are excellent for improving listening skills, as they allow you to simply listen in and expand your vocabulary without needing to participate. There is a thread on the SSiW forum dedicated to events occurring over Zoom that is currently being revived. No matter where you live, if the timing is convenient for you, you can immerse yourself in more Welsh! Also, If you know of any events that would fit this thread, please share them with our community. Since we began our DEI Training of Trainers (ToT) programme in 2020, quite a few participants have expressed the desire for more spaces to learn with each other - particularly related to better understanding our racial conditioning and our positions in the system of racial oppression. We are very excited to introduce our new online 'Race-based Affinity Groups: working together and apart in service of a just society'. We will have two Affinity Groups - one for BIPoC and one for white people - with the objectives to: - Engage in inner work - Learn in community - Hold each other accountable We will use a 'together - apart - together' approach, where we will start with both groups together, break into our race-based groups to do our own work and then come back together to share and reflect. Our first 'together' session will be on Saturday, 16 November, 9am-11am (South African Standard Time). We envision a series of six 2-hour sessions that take place monthly, however, we will determine this together as part of the process! (While we know that participants will want to come to all of the sessions, we also know that life is messy and it's difficult to commit to all of the sessions up-front. As such, there will be separate registration for each of the sessions. And whoever comes for each are the right people!) Click the link below for more details about the affinity groups. https://lnkd.in/dS4Qppim *Important Note: Prerequisite for Joining the Affinity Groups Before participating in the Affinity Groups, you must have attended a Module 1 workshop in our online DEI ToT programme - An Introduction to Working with DEI. This ensures that you are familiar with us and our style; and that we have a solid foundation to start from, including a common understanding of the importance of doing this work and a clear set of group agreements in place. If you have not yet attended (or signed up to attend) a Module 1 workshop, the next opportunity to do so is this Saturday, 02 November, 9am-1pm (SAST). Click on the following link for more information about the Module 1 workshop: https://lnkd.in/dsqDgDn4 Give a shout if you have any questions!
