So thrilled to be in Sevilla, Spain, with many #MASLD / #MASH collaborators to kick-off the GRIPonMASH Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) unded project and represent Biocellvia Luca Miele and I presented the content of the project we lead, which goal is to build AI-based decision tools to predict #Fibroscan score in the context of primary healthcare practice, with general practitioners who don't have access to Fibroscan. 10…9…8….7….6…5…4…3…2…1……… ⏱   And it’s lights, camera, action, right? 🎥   Not really, actually, and in fact it felt like a bit of a paradox the other day when I was addressing almost 3500 Biotech & Rare Disease colleagues across sites and in different time zones from an almost empty Novo Nordisk auditorium in Måløv, DK.   The occasion was the annual BRD All Staff meeting and besides a few colleagues arranging and holding everything together (🙏 Anna Hoffmann, Jakob Skaanning Jakobsen and Amalie Roholte!) and members of the BRD management team there was nothing but three robot cameras and Teams connecting me to the rest of BRD.   Meeting my colleagues on a daily basis is a vital, daily source of energy for me. Hence it’s not ideal for me to talk to a camera rather than a live audience as the opportunities for dialogue with my colleagues on the other side of Teams are very limited. Also, I don’t sense any reactions from the audience.     Given these circumstances I tend to go through the same rhythm every time I participate in this kind of meetings. I spend a lot of time in the upcoming days preparing for my presentation. Approximately 10 minutes before the countdown it probably looks a bit like I disappear into myself.   The photo below is taken 2 minutes before the meeting started. That’s where the atmosphere in the auditorium intensifies, almost complete silence ensues and adrenaline levels go up. At least mine...   During these last few minutes it’s too late to change anything. Hence I deeply concentrate and find myself wandering back to the hundreds of conversations with my colleagues in our offices, on shopfloor, during lunchtime, for meetings and by the coffee machines over the last couple of months.   And I use this input to understand my audience and I try to gauge one last time if I will be able to:   ☑ explain how we in BRD throughout 2024 will help scale Novo Nordisk to serve significantly more patients with rare and other serious chronic diseases? ☑ address older as well as the almost 1000 new colleagues we onboarded in 2023? ☑ communicate the key focus areas BRD management has selected to prioritise for 2024? ☑ convey how immensely proud I am of what we achieved in 2023?   And then the final countdown starts. 10…..9….8….   Showtime! 😊 #leadership, #virtualevent

Pilot-isis… what’s that? Digital health pilots popping like mushrooms yet failing to gain traction to scale inside and across the hospitals. The #HLTHAmsterdam panel composed of Nicolas Castoldi, Directeur Délégué at Greater Paris University Hospitals - AP-HP, Micaela Seemann Monteiro, CMO for Digital Transformation at CUF - Hospitais e Clínicas, Thomas Whicher, Founder and CEO of DrDoctor, Katherine Jones, Lead Health at Hummingbird Ventures and Alexander Casall, Global Head of Business Line Health at ZEISS Group Digital Innovation, addressed the key question of moving beyond pilots. 🚀 To do this, they advised moving from Product Market fit to Product Market Implementation fit, taking into consideration 3 main elements: 1️⃣ Measuring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) aligned with the hospital’s objectives: To get those right, the panel recommended spending a lot of time with the various stakeholders at various levels of the hospital. 2️⃣ Assessing the effort to implement and adopt the solution (direct and indirect resources): they advised for stand-alone solutions throughout the pilot phase as interoperability requires too much effort too early in the validation of the value proposition; 3️⃣ Addressing the risk/reward ratio: they recommended taking the time to acknowledge and manage the risks associated with the new workflow/process.
