📅🌍On World Children’s Day, we reaffirm every child’s right to health, care, and inclusion 📅🌏 📜On world children’s day we would like to recall every child’s right to health, care and inclusion. As enshrined in Art.24 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, every child should have the right “ […] to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health and to facilities for the treatment of illness and rehabilitation of health.” It also underscores the responsibility of member states to ensure that “no child is deprived of his or her right of access to such health care services.” 🚸Despite this, an estimated of over 200 million children worldwide living with rare diseases face significant barriers to timely diagnosis, specialized treatment, and vital support services. 📢To uphold these fundamental rights, we call on the global community to advance the adoption of a WHA Resolution on Rare Diseases. This resolution is a step toward ensuring equitable access to essential healthcare, timely diagnosis and innovative treatments for children with rare diseases. Together we can ensure that no child is left behind. #WorldChildrensDay #RareDiseases #PLWRD #Children #WHA #Resolution4Rare #HealthforAll #Inclusion

NEW: Our latest brief highlights state strategies aimed at supporting equitable systems of care for children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN). Many CYSHCN require specialized services, yet they often face difficulties accessing high-quality care. These challenges are often compounded for youth with more complex conditions; CYSHCN who are Black, Latinx, or American Indian and Alaska Native; families with low incomes; and families who live in rural areas. Check out the brief to explore state policy priorities to address barriers and support equitable systems of care for CYSHCN, including supports for family caregivers; improved access to providers and specialists; and data collection, sharing, use, and quality assurance:https://loom.ly/BgC2Czw

World Health Organization and UNICEF recently launched new guidance on scheduled child and adolescent well-care visits, a crucial resource for policymakers, managers, healthcare providers, and caregivers. The guidance outlines what is required to strengthen health systems and services for scheduled routine visits that best support children and adolescents in their growth and development as well as their caretakers. Proposing a minimum of 17 scheduled visits from birth to age 19, the guidance also describes expected provider tasks, age-specific content to be addressed, and actions to build on and maximize existing opportunities and resources. Please join us on April 23 for a webinar where speakers from WHO, UNICEF and the Ministry Of Health Malawi will delve into the guidance, exploring its significance within the broader landscape of child and adolescent health and wellbeing. In addition, they will also present on ongoing efforts to revolutionize child health programming in Malawi and beyond. Over the past years, WHO and UNICEF have embarked on efforts to guide a comprehensive agenda and strategic shifts in maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health programming that would allow children to survive, thrive and develop their full potential. As part of these efforts, WHO and UNICEF recently launched the guidance on scheduled child and adolescent well-care visits, aimed at policy makers and managers responsible for designing and managing health and wellbeing services for children and adolescents, and health and non-health care providers. This webinar will introduce the new well-care visits guidance within the broader context of the child and adolescent health and wellbeing agenda and share emerging efforts to map and rethink child health programming in Malawi. 1wNowadays, children with familial hyperlipidemia (homozygous FH, heterozygous FH, elevated lipoprotein(a) and FCS) can stay healthy, potentially for the rest of their lives, all because of new treatment options!! We should aim for access. It is a right for every child with one of these disorders to get access to optimal treatment. World Children’s Day contributes to that. Let’s celebrate! #WorldChildrensDay #FHEuropeFoundation #FHchildscreening #PreventThePreventable
