in a remarkable step for Indian research and academics, under one nation one subscriotion program, Indian government is buying a subscription to 13,000 academic journals, and then making them all available to "18 million students, faculty, and researchers" for free. The cost is $715 million over 3 years. It includes Elsevier, Nature, and AAAS. This landmark initiative by the Union cabinet, intends to democratise access to research, offering students and institutions across India access to essential academic resources, regardless of their financial capacity. However, the substantial investment in journal subscriptions has sparked debate among experts, especially as the global research landscape moves towards Open Access (OA) publishing. Govt of India is doing right thing at this point, and kudos to the team India! #goodgovernance #onenationonesubscription

EVEN AFTER 75 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE, WHY DO WE HAVE LESS EDUCATED POLITICIANS, AND OFFICERS WORKING UNDER THEM BEING HIGHEST EDUCATED? ―――― LET US MAKE INDIA A TOP NATION, TOGETHER, IN UNISON—PVH—Motto ―――― #IndianDevelopmentChallenge #Governance #Constitution #PoliticoOfficerBusinessNexus #Education #Politicians #Netas #IASOfficers #ViceChancellors #Scientists #LinkedInMemberPVH #LetUsCombineforChange #ConversationsForChange #LinkedInForCreators An IAS Officer, a Vice-Chancellor of a University, the Director of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, a Military Major General, etc… will have to be highly qualified, and almost exemplary in academics and practical operational works, relating to Techno-economic and various planning + implementation works. Strangely, we have almost zero qualification criteria for the Politicians, who are called Leaders, don the “Qualification” of NETAS, and take up positions from the Panchayat/Village level to the level of the PM Most of us, educated citizens, have enough background records to trace our history from the current level to our school level. Many of us are registered as Alumni Members on the various Websites of those institutions. Why do we not have such historical records for most Politicians? This post is not to make fun of the less educated Leaders, but it ponders over the reality in India─ does EDUCATION HAVE ANY VALUE? Why do Educated people fall at the feet of an Amritandamayi? What makes Ohm Sri Sri Sri a big personality, even bigger than the Nobel Laureate, Amatya Sen?

While 'One Nation, One Subscription' is a progressive step towards accessible knowledge, concerns remain about its implementation. Will it cater to diverse academic needs? What about equitable access across institutions? A transparent framework ensuring inclusivity and quality is essential to avoid centralization of knowledge and potential resource disparities. #researchanddevelopement #education #jaianusandhan #india #university
