It’s common to think that efficiency means reducing costs and streamlining processes by any means necessary. But what if efficiency had more to do with how we manage resources for long-term resilience rather than quick savings? In reality, many companies overlook the hidden potential in their supply chains when they focus only on immediate cost reduction. This narrow focus often results in fragile systems, vulnerable to disruptions and market volatility. Circular economy practices offer a different perspective, prioritizing resource retention, waste minimization, and local sourcing. These principles are not just about environmental benefits but about creating supply chains that can withstand shocks. By building circularity into supply chains, businesses can create more stable, adaptable operations. Local sourcing, for instance, reduces dependence on unpredictable global markets, and designing for material reuse helps companies remain agile in times of shortage. What’s your experience with creating more resilient supply chains? How do you think we can move beyond conventional thinking to achieve both economic and environmental success?
