There are many steps of a build process that can increase the risk to a wood floor. Long construction periods between installation and permanent heating systems being commissioned mean that floors can pick up too much moisture before being dried too rapidly causing gaps, splits, and delamination occurring just before project handover. The Fidbox® measures and monitors the effect of each step of the process, and helps make sure that everyone does what they should do to protect the flooring. The Fidbox® helps prevent problems and provides the data to show who is at fault if problems do occur. 🟥🟥🟥 📧 hello@fidbox.co.uk 🌐 https://lnkd.in/eDqVuxpX #fidbox #woodflooring #flooring #underfloorheating #underfloorheatingsystem #hardwoodflooring #floordesign #floorinstallation #flooringexpert #flooringspecialist

ICE Panels can be used for flooring applications. The first option is a loose-lay floor made of gravel, poly, and sand. This type is typically a replacement for an insulated concrete floor in a basement. A subfloor is placed on top of our 5.5" ICE Panel, and the result is a floor equally as warm and comfortable as one with in-floor heating without the added cost. The other option is a structural floor used for above-grade applications over cold spaces where insulation is important. This type of ICE Panel is often used in our northern projects. In this case, the 9.25" ICE Panels can span beam to beam with a limited 12' unsupported span. Interested in building with ICE Panels? Quality installers don't have bad days like this. Research the installation firm before you entrust thousands of dollars worth of materials and precious renovation time to an unknown installer just because the price is low. Instead of cheapest price, think best value. Ask for length of time in business, testimonials and recommendations. When finishing floor coverings against rigid obstructions such as exposed foundation rock (as in this case), expansion gaps are required. Where it is not practical or possible to undercut an obstruction (to hide the expansion gap), clean, consistent cuts should be made leaving the recommended gap between end of flooring and the obstruction. www.nfca.ca #flooring #installation #hardwood #construction #renovation

The most common residential roofing material in the United States is asphalt shingles. They are popular because they are cost effective and easy to install. There are two types of asphalt shingles that are used in residential roof construction, Architectural and Traditional (Also known as 3-tab). A regular 3-tab shingle lasts anywhere from 20-25 years. The architectural variant, if installed correctly and properly maintained, can last up to 50 years! Architectural is more expensive and has stronger resistance to weather conditions. While 3-tab is cheaper and has less resistance. #roofing #shingles #3tabshingle #architectualshingle #asphaultshingle

Sometimes people might ask: why should I use a self-leveling compound as an underfloor when flowable concrete works just as fine and is way cheaper! Well, let’s look at the facts. It’s true that the material costs for flowable concrete may be slightly lower than for self-leveling compounds. However, this cost advantage is negated by the much shorter drying time of self-leveling compounds (24 hours versus 4 weeks!) – which also reduces renovation time to a minimum. So, in the end, what’s the more cost-efficient solution? In renovation projects, another factor to consider is the layer thickness. We need to remember that not all floors can accommodate an additional 30-mm layer of concrete! Additionally, self-leveling compounds come with numerous advantages. In my opinion that definitely makes them superior to flowable concrete. 👉 Would you agree? Underfloor heating on insulation? This may sound contradictory, however, when installing UFH on a non-insulated surface like concrete, it's common to experience downward heat loss. So, by adding insulation beneath your underfloor heating, you create a barrier that prevents heat from dissipating downwards. The LowBoard 2 Insulate range has an expanded polystyrene (EPS) lower panel, which is covered in a pre-bonded layer of AL HEX heat diffuser technology to minimise downward heat wastage. The AL HEX heat diffuser is designed to break evenly and wrap around the pipe, this means that the foil diffuser optimises the heat produced from the water pipe by transferring it evenly across the cover panel and floor surface with minimum energy loss.
