The Research Council of Finland’s Centre of Excellence Programmes are a success story in Finnish research. Centres of Excellence (CoE) are at the very cutting edge of science in their fields, carving out new avenues for research, developing creative research environments and innovations, and training new talented researchers for the Finnish research and business sectors. 📣 Event: What makes today’s world #uncertain and how do we cope with it? Register now! In line with the start of the new international Ph.D. scholarship programme by ZEIT STIFTUNG BUCERIUS, we invite you to a discussion (in English) about today's global #Uncertainty at the Bucerius Law School in Hamburg. Admission is free. Register and read further information at the 👇 LINK in our comment section. Among our guests are Teresa Koloma Beck (Helmut-Schmidt-University/University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg), Colin von Negenborn (University of Hamburg), and shalini randeria (Central European University, Vienna). We live in times of global uncertainty – this is the tenor of many current debates. The discussion event revolves around: 🔵 these diagnoses of our times 🔵 the plurality of current uncertainties 🔵 the strategies for societies and people to cope with them There are many reasons why perceived certainties about the course of social, economic or political developments are losing their power of orientation (or have already lost it). Be it the consequences of climate change, current wars, political polarization and erosion of democratic institutions, the yet unknown effects of technological innovations or the challenges of global health crises: Uncertainty has become a ❗ defining characteristic of our time ❗
