This might be one of the AI use cases where it does make a difference to people who live in countries and regions of the world that are frequently at risk of flooding. The AI model is trained with the global "hydrological behavior" to ensure #accurate #predictions. It’s often said that they have more than 50 words for snow and ice, but some estimates go as high as 100 or more! These words describe different types of snow, such as powdery snow, wet snow, drifting snow, and so on. They also have words for different types of ice, like sea ice, glacier ice, and thin ice. With Hurricane Milton , GenCast predicted a 60-80% probability of landfall in Florida already from 8.5 days before landfall eventually happened - a couple of days before Milton even formed - and more than 90% from 5.75 days before.
