Which is the right fire extinguisher 🧯 for your home? House fires are a devastating experience and can also be deadly. They particularly endanger senior citizens and children, so it is essential to be prepared with an escape plan and with a fire extinguisher. However, different types of fires require different types of extinguishers because using the wrong one can actually fuel the flames. Here in the U.S., fire is classified according to fuel source. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recommends that you buy a multi-purpose fire extinguisher labeled for class A, B, and C fires that carries the (UL) label, to handle most of the fires that can occur in your home. The NFPA also recommends choosing one “that is large enough to put out a small fire, but not so heavy as to be difficult to handle.” A fire extinguisher is only useful if it is properly maintained. You should have at least one fire extinguisher on each floor of your home, and one in the kitchen, where most home fires start. The Chimney Safety Institute of America also recommends that you have a second fire extinguisher in the laundry room, where washers and dryers can also pose a fire risk. Before using an extinguisher, make sure all others have left your home and that you have a clear escape route. If the fire is too large, spreading rapidly, or producing a lot of smoke, call 911 and evacuate immediately. Having a fire extinguisher in your home can help save lives and property. If you want to learn more about fire extinguishers and fire safety, you can check out the NFPA.org on this topic. Another way to prevent a fire in your home is to keep your dryer vent and laundry room free of lint. AALPS Dryer Vent Cleaning reminds you that you should clean your dryer vent every year as recommended by the U.S. Fire Administration. This is a simple and affordable maintenance task that can reduce your risk of fire. Don't wait until it's too late. Take advantage of our winter special and schedule your dryer vent cleaning today. AALPS Dryer Vent includes a free inspection with each cleaning. You'll be glad you called. #dryervent #dryerventcleaning#laundryroom #homesafety #sanantoniotexas #sanantoniotx
