📚 Exciting News! 📚 You know that saying, "There's a book in everyone"? Well, I've gone ahead and written eight! Over the past few years, I've been working on a thrilling espionage series based on MI5, and I'm thrilled to finally share it with you. My series, Operatives of the Crown, consists of bite-sized episodes, each around 12,000-15,000 words. As an online English tutor for both adults and GCSE students, I know the challenge of keeping readers engaged—especially those who don't consider themselves "big readers." That's why I intentionally kept these books short, aiming to ignite a love for reading, even for those with shorter attention spans. 📖 But more than that, I believe there’s a certain elitism in literature that can be off-putting. My writing? It’s conversational, relatable, and always inspired by real events. From political unrest to covert missions, the stories are grounded in the kind of world we’re living in today. And yes, I’ll admit, my love for the UK series Spooks might have played a role too! 😉 Here are the titles of my 8-book series: Shadows of Conspiracy Fires of Dissent Crushing the Syndicates Blades in the Classroom The Edge of the Grid Rogue Infiltration Shadows in the Ranks Trojan Shipment If you're into fast-paced, high-stakes espionage with a touch of real-world drama, I think you'll love them. And hey, it’s never too late to pursue a passion—I'll be celebrating my 68th this October! Check out the series, and let me know what you think. I’d love to hear your thoughts! 🎉 See my first book here: https://lnkd.in/ezCyDqXk Hear my thoughts here: https://lnkd.in/eNkX83tw There's a book in everyone right? In episode 6 of The Hopeful Reader: 'Affect and the City', we explore how space can be queered through fiction. Can fiction problematise the attempted containment, erasure, or supposedly 'temporary' nature of queerness in public spaces? Link to the ep below, would love if you gave it a listen! https://lnkd.in/duCZQ9vB

Read-through of the Rough Close Murder on Tuesday. The cast are absolutely brilliant, especially Kat Inglis, who had a mammoth part of the script to read. Mervyn Edwards, Stoke on Trent' s historian and author of 24 books was 'terrific' as William Daniel and his ghost - terrific being used in its original meaning here. He was putting on a gruff old Potteries dialect and was really quite frightening - so the rest of us couldn't help giggling as a defence mechanism - oooh. We'll have to stifle our giggles at the actual recording! Photo of Mervyn below. https://lnkd.in/eXtXTwz3 I've updated the blog
