Private equity ownership is prevalent in the ABA service industry, but it is seldom discussed or understood among practitioners. I wrote a paper with one of my Salve Regina University colleagues, Emma Grauerholz-Fisher, and two of our students (Megan Ellsworth and Caroline Crocker) to shed some light on this topic. We provide a description of private equity, an overview of its fundamental characteristics, and a discussion of its potential benefits and risks. In 2015, I had the incredible opportunity to move to Taiwan after being awarded the MOFA Taiwan #Scholarship to pursue a bachelor’s degree. This prestigious, merit-based, fully funded scholarship, offered by the Taiwanese government to students from its allied countries, not only provided a generous stipend but also taught me the vital importance of #financial #discipline. It was a rewarding experience during which I got to learn a new language, explore new cultures, uncover my personal strengths, and develop essential life skills. 🌟 Milestone Achieved! 🎓📚 I'm thrilled to announce the completion of my dissertation, titled "Do Hostile Takeovers Create Value for Shareholders?" This academic endeavour has been both challenging and rewarding, pushing me to explore the intricate dynamics of hostile takeovers and their long-term impacts on shareholder value. Over the past several months, I explored the world of corporate finance, analyzing stock data and trends from 1995 to 2019 in the US and UK. It has been an eye-opening experience to see how market forces, strategic decisions, and corporate governance shape the outcomes of these high-stakes transactions. Despite the common perception that hostile takeovers might boost shareholder value, my research reveals a more nuanced reality that demands further exploration and understanding. I owe a huge thank you to my supervisor, Dr. Munir Lutfi, for his guidance and support, as well as to my family and friends who have been my pillars of strength throughout this process. This accomplishment is not just a personal victory but a testament to the power of perseverance and intellectual curiosity.
